Five Ways To Slow Down and Enjoy The Holidays
If you are like me and you tend to let the crazy of Christmas get the best of you, you may want to join me in doing these five things.
1. Put Down The Cell Phone - If you're an addict like me, it's time to take a break from technology and social media. You will feel refreshed if you do.
2. Focus on Presence, Not Presents - Just be with your loved ones. The experience will be more fulfilling than the expenditures.
3. Lower Your Expectations - Putting pressure on yourself or others to get things perfect only leads to grief. The only perfect Christmas was when Christ was born. God has taken care of everything you need for celebrating Jesus' birth.
4. Forgive People - Too often we let hurt and hate keep us from experiencing love and joy. Let it go . . . let it go. The freedom that forgiveness brings is a Christmas gift that God wants to give to us.
5. Center on Christ - Life can be like that frustrating maze game where the object is to get the little silver ball into the center. We are the silver ball and Christ is the center. If we let ourselves tilt too far in one direction or another, we roll all over the place. We need to let God have control and let him center us on Jesus Christ. This will require us spending some time in prayer, devotion, and worship.
I hope you have a blessed and joyful Christmas and New Year's.
