Vernon Middle School Vernon Middle School is part of the Marion Independent School District in the heart of Marion, Iowa.

Mission: Foster a community of learners in developing the knowledge and skills to be Future Ready. The Vernon Middle School staff would like to welcome you to our page. We proudly serve students in grades 5-8 and are committed to providing a safe and supporting school environment where we firmly believe all students can achieve academic excellence. As a staff we know the middle school years are critical in the development of social, emotional and future ready skills. It is our belief that students, parents, staff and community are true partners in the education of all students. We are united in a shared vision in which high expectations equal high achievements. At Vernon Middle School we also want to foster an environment in which students and staff strive to meet The Marion Way. Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity are our way of life here at Vernon Middle School and we work hard to create an environment where all individuals respect themselves, respect others and respect their school. We are doing great things every day and continue to challenge ourselves to do even better. We have an incredibly talented and dedicated staff, we utilize the most current research in grading and learning, students are encouraged to explore and be creative, and we have an extremely supportive parent and community base.

Adapted PE students joined together as one team to play our Crazy Card Relay game! Students all ran down to the cards and hula hoops together, flipped over a card, read it aloud, and performed the CrAzY task on the card. Everyone took turns flipping and reading the cards and helping each other! We completed all 9 cards and had so much fun!!!

WAMAC was the last VMS cross country meet of the season. The top place winners were Kiki (7th place), James (7th place), and Sofi (9th place), and the 7th grade boys placed 3rd as a team! Congratulations to all of our VMS runners!

VMS Cross Country North Linn Results: Girls placed 3rd and Boys 6th. Top Finishers:
7th Grade: Kiki - 4th place with a PR time of 14:15, which is the 7th fastest all-time VMS 7th grade girls time!
James - 17th place with a PR time of 13:41
8th Grade: Sofi placed 8th and Braxton placed 31st

The team recorded many more PRs! Great job to all VMS runners! The team celebrated their final practice with a run to The Freeze for ice cream treats, and will finish the season this afternoon in Williamsburg at the WAMAC Meet! Go Wolves!
