📱💙❤️ Internet Safety Starts at Home! ❤️💙📱

Dear OPES Bear Families,

Our children are growing up in a digital world, and while technology offers incredible opportunities to learn and connect, it also comes with real risks. As parents and educators, we are partners in helping our children make safe, responsible choices online.

This week, we're sharing our Internet Safety Parent Guide filled with information about:
🐻 Social media safety
📱 Why apps like Snapchat, TikTok, and other social media platforms are not appropriate for most elementary-aged children
🎮 Online gaming safety, including Roblox and games with chat features
📺 Why YouTube—even YouTube Kids—should always be supervised
🛡️ Tips for protecting your child's privacy and digital footprint
💻 Trusted resources to help your family navigate today's online world

You'll also find information about Character Counts at Oak Point! Our guidance lessons are built around the Six Pillars of Character and our new school motto:

💙 S – Stay Positive

Throughout the year, we'll recognize students who consistently demonstrate outstanding character. One student from each class will be selected for each pillar, celebrated on our Character Counts Bulletin Board, and recognized during our End-of-Year Awards Assembly.

When school and home work together, we help our children become not only successful students, but kind, responsible, and safe digital citizens.
