Hands-on learning was in full glow as our second graders used black lights and highlighters to hunt for text evidence! Transforming into reading detectives, students closely analyzed their texts to find specific details and justify their answers. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for close reading as they illuminated the exact sentences that proved their thinking!"

Our 2nd graders explored what AI is and how it learns in library class! Students trained an online AI model using pictures of apples and bananas, then drew their own pictures to see if the AI could tell the difference.

Our 2nd graders are exploring Ancient Asia and celebrated Diwali, the Festival of Lights! Students learned about the light within each of us and how kindness can help that light shine bright. They brought the celebration to life with neon glow-in-the-dark lights and shared kind notes with one another.

Our kindergarten and first-grade students had a special visit from the Marion firefighters today! They shared important fire safety tips, including what to do if your clothes catch fire and why it’s important to have a designated meeting spot at home in case of a fire.

The firefighters also put on all of their protective gear so students could see that firefighters are there to help—even when they look a little different in all that equipment! Students also got a behind-the-scenes look at the fire truck and all the cool tools and equipment firefighters use.

A huge THANK YOU to the Marion firefighters for taking the time to teach our students and help keep our school community safe! ❤️🚒

❤️💛 Our First PBIS Assembly! 🐾

Today we celebrated our first PBIS assembly of the year! We recognized our first monthly Marion Way VIPs and reviewed our Big 5 Problem-Solving Strategies!

🐾 Paw prints from KB, 1H, and 2T were drawn, and those students got to spin the wheel to earn a fun class celebration!

🏆 KB was also selected by our Secret Teacher as the class that did an outstanding job demonstrating the Marion Way throughout the assembly!

Way to go Longfellow! Keep showing Respect, Responsibility, Safety, and Integrity! ❤️💛🐺
