Sending out a huge congratulations to one of my students, Ewan Southwood!

Ewan was selected to be 1 of the 2 drummers for the 2026 4A Iowa All State Jazz Band!

Ewan has been a student of mine for almost 8 years now! He started after 3rd grade. Not only is he great on drum set, he’s a killer all around percussionist! Made the All State Band this year as well as everything else he’s accomplished with his school ensembles. Excited to see what he does in the future!

Hey all! I hope everyone is having a great new year so far!

Just dropping a note reminding anyone who sees this that I’ve got a few spots open in my schedule! I know one of you in the universe knows a kid or adult who got some drums during the holiday season! If you or anyone you know is looking for lessons, please feel free to chat with me! I do both in person as well as streaming lessons for anyone living in the country or smaller towns where the commute can be a thing. I can teach anyone anywhere on the planet if you’ve got a decent internet connection!

😆 Some think signing up for lessons is a long term thing. Even if you’re looking for a few lessons, a couple months to help with auditions, solo contests, drumline audition prep, I can help with all of that!

Hey all! Hope you’re having a great holiday season!

Just taking a second to plug myself on small business Saturday! I’ve been teaching lessons since 2003 and full time for over 20 years.

I teach 3rd grade (sometimes even younger) through adult! Lessons take place at my private studio in Marion, IA and anywhere on the planet that you can connect a streaming device!

If you or anyone you know is getting into percussion or drumset, or even has been for awhile and would love to learn how to play with better technique, practice habits, and excel faster in the learning process, please pass my information on to them!

It’s October already?! Feels like the first month of the school year has flown by so fast!

Just a friendly reminder to the universe that I do have a few open spots available for drum set and percussion lessons!

I typically teach 3rd graders - adults age wise, beginner through advanced! If you’re looking for a little short term help with a few lessons just to get help with auditions or help kick start beginner percussionists…..or if you’re looking for someone to study with long term, I promise I can help give you the instruction you need to achieve your playing goals!

I teach both in person and online lessons worldwide!

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all having a great summer!

Just a friendly reminder that if you or anyone you know is interested in percussion lessons, drum set lessons, or any and all things related to drumming, I’ve got a few lesson slots open at the moment!

I offer drop in (single lessons), short term, and long term spots! Even if you need short term help preparing for auditions, just need a chop booster, or want to commit to a longer period of time, I’ve got options!

None of those silly registration fees that the other places will charge you! Lastly, even if you are shopping around for a private teacher, ask for their qualifications! I’m still shocked when I acquire new students who’ve studied other places around town for a decent amount of time that weren’t even taught basics of reading charts, rhythm, and basic musical knowledge. If you’re going to invest money into lessons for yourself or someone, make sure the person is qualified!

Feel free to pass my info along if you know anyone that is interested! I’d love to talk to any of you about how I can make you better! Beginner through professional! I work with students just starting out all the way up to adults who play in bands and want to refine their sound and technique.

But what about location? I’ve got a great home studio setup but I also offer streaming lessons to anyone anywhere on this planet!

Huge congrats to all of my students who participated in Solo and Ensemble contest this last weekend!

I had 11 students participate and a special shout out to one of my students, Pranav Karthik! Pranav earned the “Best of Center” honor for the percussion center. He started lessons with me as a kindergartner and I was lucky enough to get to teach him for a bit in high school drumline and percussion ensembles as well. He’s worked his tail off and it was well deserved! So proud of all of my students, it’s not about the ratings, they were all excited how much they’d progressed!!
