The Marion Institute (“MI”) is celebrating its 30-year anniversary as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose work engages individuals and communities in systems level solutions at the intersection of food, wellness, and the environment.

We are committed to developing a team that reflects the communities that we serve and strive to accomplish our goals by actively seeking people who bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives to join us in our work.

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Marketing & Communications Manager will create and implement the strategy for all communications, website, public relations, collateral, and events to consistently articulate and brand the Marion Institute’s mission. This is a full-time in-person position. The MI offers a generous and competitive benefit package that includes health insurance, dental insurance, life & long term disability insurance, 403B and Roth retirement plans, an employee wellness reimbursement, paid sick time, and accrued paid vacation time.

We're gearing up for our annual Eat Local Southcoast Challenge happening in June and July - are you on board? The challenge is simple. Through weekly emails, you will be encouraged to source, cook with, and eat foods grown, caught, or made from within 200 miles. You can tailor this challenge to fit your level of interest with the goal of increasing your purchasing and consumption of local foods through incremental changes to your buying and cooking practices. The challenge is meant to be fun, educational, and inspiring for you – don’t overcomplicate it! In many ways, we live in the age of trauma. The COVID-19 pandemic, poverty, hunger, , global conflicts, racism and racial injustice, inflation, and climate-related disasters are all weighing on our collective consciousness.

For 50 years, Bessel van der Kolk has been at the forefront of research into post-traumatic stress. Few have had more influence on our understanding of it, how it works, and how we might better treat it.

In this Southcoast exclusive event, Dr. van der Kolk will share his insights into how traumatic experiences can disconnect our body and mind, leaving us with a physical imprint of our psychic wounds, and explore the body-oriented treatments proving effective.
