Excellence in education is the commitment made to our students and our community by our sta

ff of highly qualified teachers. Mary fosters the development of the Roman Catholic faith by encompassing teaching, prayer, religious experiences, and services. Mary student is an important person with unique social, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs. We strive to provide direction in helping students become self-directed, confident, lifelong learners. The school community promotes a healthy, safe, respectful and positive learning environment that includes an accelerated curriculum that allows for our teachers to teach and our students to learn. Our principal, teachers, parents, and students share the responsibility for learning and for advancing the mission of St. Mary School.

"The stronger our desire to serve others, the stronger our love for them will be." - St. Peter Canisius (1521-1597)

Born in modern-day Netherlands, St. Peter Canisius earned his Master's degree at 19 from the University of Cologne and was ordained as a Jesuit priest in 1543. A significant figure in the Counter-Reformation in Germany, St. Peter is known as the Second Apostle of Germany. He helped found the first German-speaking Jesuit college and participated in several meaningful discussions, including the Council of Trent. St. Peter Canisius would go on to write the most popular catechism of his time.

He is the patron saint of Catholic press and Germany.

St. Peter Canisius, pray for us!

Advent Penance Service on Monday, December 22 at 6:00pm. Fr. Thomas Merrill from Our Lady of Consolation in Carey will help Fr. Shikina and Fr. Daniel to hear confessions that evening. There will not be any special programming. Just show up and go to confession. It will be the last scheduled opportunity before Christmas.

There is also an Advent Penance Service this weekend, Sunday, December 14th at 4pm at Sacred Hearts Church, Cardington with Fr. Shikina and Fr. Daniel hearing confessions. That will be followed by the monthly Adoration time that begins at 5:15pm and then Vespers at 5:45pm, then a potluck dinner at 6:15pm.

A reminder that we must go to confession at least once a year. "Examination of Conscience” pamphlets are by the front doors to help you. As always, our regularly scheduled confessions are on Fridays from 5-6pm and Saturdays 3:45-4:45pm.

O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, did prepare a worthy dwelling place for your son, we beseech You that, as by the foreseen death of this, your son, You did preserve her from all stain, so too you would permit us, purified through her intercession, to come unto you. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end. Amen.

"Love is the greatest gift one can give to another." - St. Nicholas (270-343)

Often leaving coins in the shoes people left behind, St. Nicholas was known for his generosity. His most famous account was when he helped prevent an impoverished man from selling his daughters into prostitution, secretly giving the family three bags of gold so each daughter had a proper dowry. As Bishop of Myra, Nicholas is said to have saved three men from ex*****on and to have attended the Council of Nicaea. We get the name "Santa Claus" from the Dutch "Sinterklaas" or "Sint-Nicolaas."

His patronage includes children, travelers, merchants, the falsely accused, and repentant thieves.

St. Nicholas, pray for us!
