On This Day — Remembering Deputy Sam Fowler

One year ago today, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office lost Deputy Sam Fowler.

Sam was more than a deputy. He was a brother, a friend, a public servant, and a deeply loved member of our law enforcement family. His loss was felt throughout this agency, throughout the community, and by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Sam had a servant’s heart. He was the kind of person who looked for ways to help others, not for recognition, but because that was simply who he was. He cared about people. He cared about this community. He cared about doing the right thing. Whether he was wearing the uniform, helping a coworker, serving a citizen, or simply being present for someone who needed him, Sam made a difference.

Those who knew Sam remember his kindness, his humility, his loyalty, and his heart for service. He represented so much of what is good about this profession. He understood that law enforcement is not only about calls, reports, and arrests. It is about people. It is about showing up, standing beside others, and serving with compassion and courage.

Sam’s impact did not end with his passing. His example continues to live on in the deputies who served beside him, in the people he helped, and in the community he loved. His memory remains part of who we are as an agency.

Today, we remember Deputy Sam Fowler with gratitude, respect, and love.

We remember his service.
We remember his kindness.
We remember his friendship.
We remember his heart.

And we will always remember Sam.
