Congratulations to our Titan Band members who participated in the Western District Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Adjudication on Thursday, May 8th. Superior ratings were awarded to:

Dawson Jenkins and Malachi Williams for their soprano sax/clarinet duet.

Malachi Williams, Alexis Miniguano, Braelon Obar, and Dawson Jenkins for their clarinet quartet performance.

Dawson Jenkins and Ian Gardner for their bari sax/drums duet.

Amber Blue, Daniel Young, Logan Marler, and Dawson Jenkins for their saxophone quartet performance.

Daja Wilson for her flute solo.

Daniel Young for his tenor saxophone solo.

Excellent ratings were awarded to:

On April 22nd our Tri-M honor society inducted 8 new members! We also proudly bestowed double pink honor chords to 5 seniors.

We are so proud of the these amazing students!

Our officers for the 2024-2025 school year are:
President: Ava Effler (Chorus)
Vice President: Daniel Young (Band)
Secretary: Daja Wilson (Band)
Treasurer: Maggie Rink (Band)

At McDowell High School, our Tri-M Honor Society is a honor society for our Band and Chorus students who consistently show musical excellence, scholarship, service, and leadership among their peers. Tri-M stands for Modern Music Masters. It's a national music honor society for students in grades 6-12. The requirements for our society are that each student must have at least an overall GPA of 3.5, an A in their music classes, and that they remain above reproach and not have excessive behavioral referrals.

This is the coolest fundraiser! Support our band!

The McDowell Titan Band is selling Coffee! Orders may be placed in person with a McDowell Titan band student. Profits made from the sale will go toward student's upcoming Disney World trip in the fall.

Orders are due on April 30th and will be delivered to McDowell High School on May 21st.

This week is the final week of Music in Our Schools Month and we are finishing the month by introducing our Tri-M Officers!

Isabella is a Senior Titan Band Member. She served as Drum Major for our Marching Titans and participated in Solo and Ensemble MPA.

Ava is a Freshman Chorus member. Ava won two Chorus Awards her first semester as a Titan Chorus member including Overall Choral Performance Award and Inspirational Leadership Award. Ava is the reigning Miss Teen North Carolina AUS and was Little Miss McDowell Queen for years 2019/2020!
