Last night, at our 10th annual awards banquet, we celebrated the accomplishments of our mock trial and moot court programs this year. We also honored an incredible group of seniors who walk away with more invitational placements and outstanding awards than we can count. Thank you for everything you gave to this program - we will miss you.

Today, our middle school team competed in two very competitive trials and walked away with all four outstanding awards. Congratulations on a fantastic performance!

Big shout out also to the three students who have been in middle school mock trial since fifth grade: Charlotte Meyers, Carma Warwick, and Bekah Wood. We will miss you!

And now, one of the most exciting sentences in the English language: Danville mock trial advances to states! 🎉

Team Holmes emerged victorious after two highly competitive trials, including one against last year's state champion, a very talented Archbishop Hoban team. Students on Team Holmes are Narissa Holbrook, Nya Holbrook, Zander Patrick, Madysen Cochrun, Kyra Blackshear, Gracie Lucas, and Lilly Furay.

Congratulations to our second team as well. While today's competition didn't go as hoped, they still had an excellent year and grew tremendously as the season went along. The future is bright with these kids: Jordan Crane, Ana Avila, Leilah Escalante, Natalie Price, Adriam Hood, Riley Malone, Natalie C***a, and Carma Warwick.

For the second year in a row, Danville pulled away from the OCLRE District Mock Trial Competition with a bus load of happy kids. That’s right…BOTH Team Holmes (Zander Patrick, Narissa Holbrook, Madysen Cochrun, Kyra Blackshear, Nya Holbrook, Gracie Lucas, & Lilliana Furay) and Team Blue (Jordan Crane, Ana Avila, Natalie Price, Leilah Escalante, Riley Malone, Adriam Hood, Natalie C***a, & Carma Warwick) advanced to Regionals!! No easy feat! Well done, Danville 💙⚖️💙

The Case Western Clash Tournament proved to be a strong start to the regular season for Team Holmes! They won both trials and placed 4th out of 24 teams. Narissa Holbrook received two Outstanding Attorney awards. Kyra Blackshear and Gracie Lucas received Outstanding Witness awards. Congratulations to Zander Patrick, Narissa Holbrook, Nya Holbrook, Kyra Blackshear, Lilliana Furay, and Gracie Lucas!!! 🎉

Here’s a recap of our trip to Chicago from one of our seniors, Narissa Holbrook. Narissa, by the way, was ranked as the 10th best attorney in the competition. These kids always make us proud!

On November 6th-10th, the Danville Mock Trial team competed at the Empire World Championship in Chicago. It is a highly prestigious competition, where only the top 44 teams are invited, and our students were nothing shy of amazing.
We drove to Chicago on Thursday, where we got to stay at the Palmer House Hilton. As soon as we got there, we went straight to work. We had a scrimmage against Apple Valley High School from Minnesota, and had two more scrimmages on Friday against Jesuit High School from Oregon. That night, we went to Empire's closing ceremony, where we showed everyone who Danville is by playing our team video, which ended with a truck and clouds of dust on a backroad (Video produced by Molly Mickley!). We also had to challenge a team to compete against on Saturday morning.
Day one of trials: On Saturday morning, we competed against Sevier County High School from Tennessee, where we swept both ballots. During the afternoon trial, we competed against Fort Lauderdale High School from Florida, splitting the ballots with a team that got 3rd at Nationals. Danville had an amazing first day of competition.
Day two of trials: Sunday morning, we competed against Christ Presbyterian Academy from Tennessee, winning both ballots. And during our final trial, we competed against Korean International School, a very competitive school, where we split the ballots.
Small town team, Danville Mock Trial, stood their ground against some of the biggest and best mock trial teams, and for that, we are immensely proud. Kudos to our team: Madysen Cochrun, Narissa Holbrook, Zander Patrick, Kyra Blackshear, Nya Holbrook, Gracie Lucas, Lilliana Furay, Jordan Crane, Leilah Escalante, Adriam Hood, and Riley Malone.
Outstanding attorney rankings went to Narissa Holbrook (8x), Zander Patrick (4x), Nya Holbrook (2x), and Gracie Lucas. Outstanding witness rankings go to Madysen Cochrun (4x), Nya Holbrook (3x), Lilliana Furay (3x), Kyra Blackshear (2x), and Zander Patrick (2x). Great job, guys! Let's go regular season!!

Congratulations one final time to our two middle school teams. Both teams earned a "Superior" rating, meaning that they both finished in the top 30% in the state.
