At our last board meeting, we approved the FY27 certified budget and tax levy.
Here are a few key takeaways from the presentation:
✔️ Tax Levy Rate Holds Steady
For the third year in a row, the levy rate remains at $17.99.
✔️ Lower Impact for Homeowners
For a $200,000 home, this results in a $104.32 decrease per year.
✔️ Where the Money Goes
The majority of the General Fund supports instruction, with over 80% invested in staff—a reflection of the district’s commitment to students and classrooms.
✔️ How Linn-Mar Compares
Linn-Mar remains competitive with neighboring districts—and importantly, does not include an income surtax, unlike many others.
✔️ Who Controls the Levy?
44% — State of Iowa
37% — School Board
18% — Voter-approved
With state funding levels around 2% and inflation closer to 3%, the district continues to take a conservative, responsible approach to budgeting, while maintaining a path to support annual staff increases.
