Susan McCartney - Cobb County School Board Post 4

Thank you so much for your support through this campaign. Although the results were not what we hoped for, I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished with a grassroots effort and absolutely no financial backing from any groups or PAC’s. We ran a race with a hundred dollars and only lost by less than 1%. What we did have was something far more meaningful: a dedicated group of supporters who believed in our message, gave their time, shared their ideas, and encouraged me every step of the way.

Running for office has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people in our community, hear your stories, and better understand the challenges and opportunities facing our schools.

To my family and friends who stood beside me and supported me through every high and low, 1 am deeply grateful. A special shout out to my daughter, Tara Renee, who was my campaign manager. I couldn’t have handled the social media posts, her creative ideas, her well written words…the list goes on and on without her. She believed in me every step of the way.

Although this campaign has come to an end, my commitment to our community and to public education remains as strong as ever. I ran because I care deeply about our students, our teachers, and the future of our schools, and that passion does not end tonight. This is not the last you will see of me.

Congratulations to my opponent Michael Garza, and I wish him success as he continue's this race against David Chastain with any support I might be able to offer.

Thank you again to everyone who believed in me and in what we were trying to accomplish. This may be the end of this campaign, but it is not the end of my involvement or my dedication to making a positive difference.
