Thinking about studying or moving abroad but confused between the Duolingo English Test (DET) and PTE Academic? ✈️ Planning your prep doesn't have to be overwhelming!

In our latest video, we break down the major 2026 updates and differences so you can choose the right exam for your goals:
Duolingo English Test: A 1-hour, computer-adaptive exam taken entirely from home for US$70 Ideal if you want a faster, highly flexible test experience with results back in 2 days
PTE Academic: A 2-hour, computer-based exam taken at a secure Pearson test center It features highly structured, integrated task types and is widely accepted for professional registration and immigration
The Golden Rule: Acceptance must come first!
A convenient test is completely useless if your target university or visa pathway doesn't accept it Always check both admissions and government guidelines before you book

🎥 Watch the full video to compare their scoring systems, task structures, and retake policies.

Is a 7.5 IELTS score good enough?

In most cases, yes. An IELTS 7.5 is considered a very strong score and is usually accepted by leading universities, immigration programs, and professional organizations.

But remember, your overall score is not the only thing that matters. Some universities, visa programs, and professional bodies require a minimum score in each section, especially Writing and Speaking.

For example, a 7.5 overall may still not be enough if one section falls below the required band.

Should you retake the test for an 8.0? It depends on your goal. You may need 8.0 in every section for maximum Australian migration points or highly competitive programs.
