🌍✨ Our community at Casa Montessori celebrated Africa Day alongside our friends at Manga African Dance!

Our Primary students have been immersed in learning about the beauty and diversity of African cultures through books, art, music, storytelling, and hands-on exploration.

This celebration brought those lessons to life in such a joyful and inspiring way! We are grateful for the opportunity to deepen our understanding of this incredible continent and to share in the beauty, rhythm, and spirit of Africa Day together.

Thank you to Manga African Dance for sharing your talents, traditions, and energy with us. It was a wondrous day of learning, connection, and celebration!

✨ A tradition that reminds us of:

• Community and connection
• The beauty of nature’s seasons
• Learning through movement and celebration

✨ The Casa Shakespeare Players Present… ✨

The Casa Shakesperience | April 22, 2026

Featuring familiar quotes, shortened scenes, and solos from several of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays.

Our Upper Elementary students, ages 9–12, wowed us all with their ability to analyze complex poetic language. They explored key themes such as ambition, love, and betrayal, and interpreted character motivations, all while making each role their own.

Through their study of Shakespeare, students tackled early modern English vocabulary, scanned iambic pentameter, and uncovered the historical context behind the plot. They brought it all to life through dramatic performance and text analysis, all while performing completely off-book! (memorized)

Directed by the multi-talented Ms. Theresa Dean 🎨🎭with support from their incredible guides, Ms. Grace and Ms. Stacy.

Bravi! A well-deserved standing ovation to all! 🎭✨

✨ Maria Montessori: The Musical ✨

Our Lower Elementary students (ages 6 to 9) took the stage with heart and creativity, supported by their Guides, Ms. Alison and Ms. Bela. Music, direction, and choreography by Colby Blick .blick
A warm congratulations to everyone involved! 👏

Maria Montessori: The Musical is a student-led performance that brings the life and educational philosophy of Maria Montessori to the stage. Through music, movement, and storytelling, it follows her journey as she develops a child-centered approach to learning, emphasizing independence, curiosity, and respect for each child’s natural development. The musical highlights key Montessori principles like hands-on learning, the prepared environment, and the importance of the arts in shaping the whole child, all brought to life through the creativity and expression of young performers.

In The Montessori Method, Maria Montessori emphasizes that children should live in an environment of beauty. She explains that the arts, including music, play an important role in shaping the developing personality by refining the senses. Through repeated listening, children become able to appreciate rhythm, melody, and harmony; this cultivation of the auditory sense contributes to the development of the whole personality (Montessori, 1912).

“The hands are the instruments of man’s intelligence.” - Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p. 25

Our gardening day for Ms. Dixie’s Primary classroom was filled with meaningful work: little hands digging, planting, and caring for the earth. 🌿

When children work with their hands, they build their minds, their confidence, and their connection to the world around them. Every scoop of soil, every seed planted, and every drop of water becomes a lesson they will carry with them. 💚

This is where independence grows right alongside the plants. 🌱

✨ A special shout-out to our green-thumbed volunteers who made this day possible. ✨

“What the hand does, the mind remembers.”

It all began in the 1970s with our beloved “Italy Day,” honoring the founder’s heritage. 🇮🇹

From there, our passion for culture and global awareness has continued to flourish. 🌱🗺️

Today, our students explore the world through immersive experiences like Africa Day, French Day, Asia Day, and our English Tea Party. ☕🌍

Through food, music, and shared traditions, children don’t just learn about the world.

They experience it. 💫

“The child of this age is a social being and his work should be organized in such a way that he may develop his social tendencies.”
— Maria Montessori, From Childhood to Adolescence, p. 62

In the upper elementary years (9-12), children are naturally drawn to connection. They want to collaborate, share ideas, and find their place within a group.

Learning isn’t just individual anymore - it becomes social. Through working together, they build empathy, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Connection is part of the curriculum. 🤝✨

“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.” — Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p. 25

Children don’t just learn by listening…they learn by doing, exploring, and experiencing the world around them. 🌱

When they’re given a thoughtful, prepared environment, they naturally begin to touch, try, and discover on their own.

That’s where the magic happens - learning that feels joyful, meaningful, and truly their own.💛
