Thank you Lancaster Farming for sharing about our Stepping Stones Garden!🥕🍅🫜

Under the guidance of Stepping Stones Teacher Tabea Steinbeisser-Fitz, our students have worked hard to plant and tend to their vegetable garden, all while learning valuable lessons about land stewardship, patience, community, and more.

Projects like the Stepping Stones Garden are just one of the many magical aspects of a Waldorf education at SWS. 💚

Thank you to Ms. Tabea and all of our Stepping Stones Teachers and Assistants for helping our garden bloom!🌱

The early years can feel wonderfully full - full of firsts, questions, changes, and discovery. Our Parent-Child classes offer families a place to slow down, connect, and enjoy this fleeting season in community.

And this fall, we’re excited to offer a NEW class just for our littlest learners and their caregivers!

👶 Joyful Beginnings | Birth–1 year
Fridays, 10:00–11:15 am with Ms. Tabea

Rooted in Waldorf and Pikler principles, Joyful Beginnings gives babies a peaceful space to freely move and explore while caregivers learn about infant development, share experiences, and grow in confidence together.

🌿 Little Ferns | Birth–approximately age 3
Saturdays, 9:00–11:30 am with Ms. Valerie

Our Saturday Little Ferns class also has a few spaces remaining! Families enjoy a gentle weekly rhythm of play, songs, stories, seasonal activities, and time to connect with one another.

Whether you’re brand new to Waldorf education or already part of our community, we’d love to welcome you and your little one.

We spent our summer days splashing in the water, digging in the sand, learning, laughing, and making memories here at the school by the river.🏞️💚

It’s hard to believe our summer days are numbered and in a few short weeks, our green doors will open once again to greet our incredible SWS community. We are so excited to start another school year! Until then, we hope you are able to soak up the remaining magic of summer. ☀️

See you soon SWS!

As we begin the year, the Board is pleased to announce that Krista Bieniek has been hired as our School Administrator.

The School Administrator is a senior leadership position responsible for guiding the day-to-day administrative life of the school while supporting its pedagogical mission. Krista will chair the administrative team and work closely with the College of Teachers, Leadership Council, Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and Parent Guild. Through these relationships, she will help strengthen communication, coordination, and accountability across the school.

Most importantly for families, Krista will serve as the primary on-site leadership contact for the school community. A child’s teacher will continue to be the best first point of contact for classroom and student-specific matters. Krista will be available when families have broader questions, administrative concerns, feedback, or simply need help identifying the right person or process. We want every family to know where to turn and to feel that questions and concerns will be received with openness, care, and respect.

Krista’s responsibilities will also include overseeing school operations, supporting the administrative staff, facilitating healthy communication and conflict resolution, encouraging parent engagement, and helping ensure that our policies and systems serve the needs of students, families, faculty, and staff. She still retains the Pedagogical Chair position and will ensure that the school’s work remains aligned with the principles of Waldorf education and the mission of Susquehanna Waldorf School.

The creation of this role reflects the Board’s commitment to a healthy leadership structure—one that provides families with an accessible point of contact while allowing our teachers to remain focused on the educational experience of our students. Krista will also report regularly to the Board, helping us remain informed about the overall health and needs of the school community.

We are grateful to Krista for accepting this responsibility and look forward to the leadership, steadiness, and care she will bring to the role. We hope you will join us in welcoming and supporting her as she begins this new chapter of service to our school.
