Emmy's Academy
Emily “Emmy” Corrigan was born in April of 2007. She was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, a heart defect, and hearing loss. Emmy was 2.5 yrs old when she passed.
After successful heart surgery and regaining her hearing, she became sick in Spring of 2009 with Parvovirus (Fifth Disease). Emily was in and out of the hospital and ultimately lost her battle on December 11, 2009. She was the light of our life and always will be. Sunny Spring Days >>> 😊🌷🌿
A couple weeks ago, we had such a special day at Emmy’s Academy!
From egg hunts and outdoor play to reconnecting with familiar faces (even some of our former students 💕), it was filled with sweet moments we’ll definitely cherish.
Our students had the best time—and let’s just say there were PLENTY of eggs to go around 😅🥚✨
We’re also so thankful for , , , and for joining us. It was a great opportunity to connect, collaborate, and continue building a stronger, more supportive community together.
We’re already looking forward to what’s next 💛

✨ Meet the Team ✨
Introducing our Development & Assistant Director, Mark!
He brings over a decade of experience in nonprofit development, with a strong background in building relationships and securing impactful support for organizations. At Emmy’s Academy, he plays an essential role in advancing our mission while remaining hands-on with our team, families, and students each day.
His willingness to step in and support wherever needed makes him an invaluable part of our community.
Fun fact: Mark is an avid runner and enjoys participating in races. He recently took part in and is planning to run a half marathon in Brooklyn at the end of April. 🏃♂️💨
We’re grateful to have him at Emmy’s Academy!

18 volunteers. One HUGE impact.
We had the pleasure of welcoming students from Kennesaw State University for their annual Day of Service event, and they showed up ready to work! 💪
In just a few hours, they refreshed our backyard, cleaned out our (soon-to-be licensed) infant room, and helped us prep for our Spring Fling egg hunt later that day.
Their teamwork, efficiency, and positive attitude made a lasting difference in our space and for our team.
We’re incredibly grateful for our continued partnership with KSU and the students who give their time to support our community. 💛🦉🫶

✨ Meet the Team ✨
We’re excited to introduce Abbie!
She’s brought her passion to helping children thrive right into our classrooms. As a lead teacher and future pediatric Occupational Therapist, she is dedicated to supporting every child’s growth and success.
Fun fact that we love: her mom is a Special Education Advocate (meaningfulspedadvocacy), and even joined us at our Spring Fling this past weekend — talk about a family dedicated to supporting children! 👏
We’re so happy she’s a part of our team!
Stay tuned to meet more of our amazing team members. 🥰

Due to ALL Cobb county schools being closed on Monday, January 26, we have made the decision to close our center as well. ❄️
This decision follows updated guidance from the National Weather Service, with the potential for significant ice, dangerous roads, high winds, and very low temperatures.
Be sure to stay warm and safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon. 🌨️❤️

We’re so honored to share this… 🥹💚
Emmy’s Academy has been nominated for Best Childcare and Best Afterschool Program in East Cobb! 🎊
This nomination is bigger than a title — it shines a light on families who deserve affordable early intervention childcare, especially for children who need extra support. At Emmy’s, we’re proud to be a place where children can learn, grow, and feel safe — with care that’s intentional, nurturing, and built around each child’s needs.
While our focus is supporting children with special needs and developmental differences, we do accept all children regardless of diagnosis or special circumstances (6 weeks–5 years old).
🗳️ Voting is open now!
📧 Vote once per day, per email
