As part of Homecoming 2019 at Marietta College, the Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music will be hosting a breakfast meet and greet for all choir alumni, band alumni and music major alumni. The meet and greet will take place on the Butler Street side of Hermann Fine Arts Center from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12th.

This meet and greet will immediately proceed the Outstanding Pioneers Awards Ceremony, which will take place at the tent on Christy Mall beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Come and see former professors and new ones. Come and check out what is happening at the Music Department, our renovated facilities and in the various ensembles.

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday, October 12th between 9:00-10:00. See you soon!!!

Hello, All! Big ol' jazz concert tonight featuring the Marietta College Jazz Combo and (the wonderful) Floodstage. The combo is playing tunes that were written only 2 whole years ago. McDonnough Auditorium at 7:30pm. And it's free! We hope to see you there!

The Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music is pleased to announce the Fall Jazz and A Capella Concert this Thursday evening, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. in McDonough Auditorium on the Marietta College campus. The concert will feature the MC Jazz Combo, under the direction of Jordan Reed and Floodstage, under the direction of Jay Dougherty. The concert is open to the public and is free of charge.

An enormous thank you to Eli Chambers for making his way down to Marietta to work with our Jazz Combo on one of his arrangements. Eli also talked to our students about being a freelance musician, writing/arranging, being versatile, learning tunes quickly (with or without sheet music), and how to blend in an ensemble. Thanks for "learnin' us something fierce", Eli!

A few photos of the Marietta College Jazz Combo working hard on some tunes for the upcoming Spring Jazz Concert on April 20th. There will be musical representation from jazz writers new and old. Chick Corea, Wes Montgomery, Ray Charles, Horace Silver, and Ben Wendel. Looking forward to sharing the stage with Marietta's own Floodstage in a few weeks!
