MDE School believes that children learn best while experiencing all aspects of the curriculum in a developmentally-appropriate classroom. Opportunities for learning occur at all times of the day and we capitalize on these opportunities as often as possible. Our teachers are trained to recognize these learning moments and guide your children to make the best of them. The classroom is structured wit

h an emphasis on language and communication to promote independence and self-advocacy. We believe that teachers must lovingly guide and redirect the children to help them learn to cooperate with their peers to have positive, educational experiences that will encourage and enhance their growth and development. It is our responsibility to model appropriate use of language and action at all times. We will continuously provide opportunities to teach the children age appropriate skills for conflict resolution. We encourage parents to communicate with the teachers and director to maximize your child's total learning experience.

💙 Family Spotlight #1: Meet the Monroe Family & Jake!💛

As we wrap up the first month of school, we’re excited to kick off our Family Spotlight series! We’re so grateful to have the Monroe Family as part of our MDE community. Here’s a little more about their journey with us:

🏫 How long have you been at MDE School?
“7 years!”

💭 Where were you before and/or what led you to MDE School?
“ McGarity Elementary school( public school). We wanted more support for Jake that he wasn’t able to get in public school.”

🧩 What’s your child’s diagnosis?
“ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).”

💙 What has been the biggest reason you have stayed at MDE School?
“The amazing support he gets at MDE. The fact that he is able to receive all of his additional therapies during school hours. Having his therapists, teacher, and other staff work together on common goals to help Jake succeed.”

✨ Anything else you’d like to share about your experience here?
“MDE has been so great for our family. It gives us comfort and peace of mind knowing his needs are met. He enjoys going to school each day and is loved and looked after so well.”

We are so thankful the Monroe Family chose MDE and have trusted us to be part of Jake’s journey for the past 7 years!💙💛

Every Thursday, our VoCrew heads to JJs Pizza where they work as a team to assemble 150–175 pizza boxes!📦👏

It’s a great opportunity to build valuable work skills, teamwork, and independence—and as an added bonus, they get the chance to order some of that delicious pizza afterward! 🍕😋

So what better time to recap our Dog Days Race from a couple of weeks ago, hosted by the East Cobb Rotary Club!

It was a beautiful morning filled with beautiful people, happy pups, and plenty of community spirit!🏃‍♀️🐕💙
