The Technical Institute held its first registration and started with 116 students (all but 10 were WWII veterans).
1949
Renamed to Southern Technical Institute
1961
The college moved from its original location in Chamblee, GA to its now current home of Marietta, GA.
1970
One of the first in the nation, Southern Technical Institute offered the Bachelor of Engineering Technology. This same year they also became an accredited four-year college.
SUMMER, 1980
Southern Technical Institute achieved independence within USG by ending its ties with Georgia Tech.
1996
Renamed Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU)
NOVEMBER 1, 2013
Georgia Board of Regents plans to consolidate SPSU into Kennesaw State University (KSU).
JULY 1, 2015
Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology was established as a college under KSU in Memorial of the former SPSU.
