There is still more work to be done on Infinite Campus! In addition to the documents section and the forms that need to be filled out there (reach out to ask for help if you are having trouble with this) parents/guardians also need to complete their yearly registration in order to fill out a digital emergency medical card.

To access this for your students, start by logging into your parent portal and clicking on the menu (3 lines button in upper left-hand corner) >then navigate to "More" > then click Online Registration > Under Existing Student Annual Update click on start. Fill out this information and submit it for each student.

If you have any questions, you can a call or stop in our administrative offices.

It's Friday and that means it's time for another Talking to Tigers. Today's Tiger is in her third year with our district and her 7th year teaching.

1. What is your name and where are you from originally?
"My name is Abigail Barker, and I am originally from Reedsville, Ohio. I came to Marietta to attend Marietta College and have enjoyed making the Marietta area my home."

2. How long have you taught/worked at Marietta and at what schools do you teach/work at?
"This is my third year teaching at Marietta Elementary School. I am currently in my seventh year of teaching overall. Prior to joining Marietta City Schools, I taught for four years in Wood County, West Virginia."

3. What do you teach/do and what have you taught/done at Marietta over the years?
"This year, I teach a 3rd–6th Grade Self-Contained Resource Room at Marietta Elementary School. For the past two years, I taught a 5th–6th Grade Self-Contained Resource Room. My connection to Marietta City Schools actually began before I was hired. While attending Marietta College, I completed several field experiences as well as my student teaching within the district."

4. What is your favorite food?
"My favorite food is macaroni and cheese! It is definitely my go-to comfort food."

5. What is your favorite movie?
"My favorite movie is Safe Haven."

6. What is your favorite book?
"My favorite book is In a Heartbeat by Loretta Ellsworth."

7. If you could do any other job, what would it be?
"If I could choose another career, I would be a chef! I love trying new recipes, experimenting in the kitchen, and cooking meals for my friends and family."

8. What is your favorite quote?
"My favorite quote is from Martin Luther King Jr.:
“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

9. What is the most important thing in your life?
"The most important thing in my life is my family. I am married to my husband, Jacob, and we have two wonderful children, Jakobi, who is 3 months old, and Adah, who is 3 years old. Spending time with my family and watching our children grow is incredibly important to me."

10. Tell me something interesting and unique about yourself.
"A fun fact about me is that I actually have two jobs! In addition to teaching, I am entering my 10th year working with the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County at the Alice Chapman Learning Center, formerly known as Ely Chapman. My current role is Academic Support Specialist. Working with children and supporting their academic growth has been a major part of my life for nearly a decade!"

The Marietta High School Athletic Hall of Fame committee would like to extend the community a special invitation to our upcoming banquet. The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 17th at 5:30at the Tower Event Conference Center.

This year’s class includes the late Dave Barnes (1967), Bernie Brown (1979), Layne Carpenter (2009), Russell Pickering (1976), Wesley Riley (2011), Mark and Karen Stewart (contributors), and Emmy Yoho (1999). The inductees will also be recognized during the home varsity football game on Friday, October 16th.

We would love to have you in attendance for this historic evening. Honoring the “Best of the Best” is an opportunity to create special memories that will last a lifetime. To learn more about the Marietta High School Athletic Hall of Fame and its past inductees, please visit www.mhsathletichalloffame.org.

Partnerships create possibilities for students.

On Wednesday, members of our Marietta High School and district leadership team had the opportunity to meet with Jona Rinard and her team at Washington State College to review our current College Credit Plus (CCP) pathways and explore ways to expand opportunities for our students.

Our conversation focused on potential new course offerings, stronger alignment within our high school schedule, and additional ways we can partner to support students as they prepare for college, careers, and life beyond high school.

We are grateful to Jona and the Washington State team for sharing their space, time, and expertise with us. Their willingness to collaborate and think creatively alongside our team is a great example of what can happen when schools and community partners work together on behalf of students.

Focused and Fierce, and always looking for ways to maximize our impact on learning.

Todays event to assist families with Infinite Campus from 2-5 p.m. is being moved to the Marietta Elementary School Cafeteria.

We will have staff on hand to help creating an IC account, resetting old passwords, showing families how to sign electronic documents and more!

Students will not be able to access electronic devices until all of their documents are signed, so please take advantage of this if you are having issues.

This upcoming Monday, September 7, we will have staff on hand at the MHS Cafeteria from 2-5 p.m. to assist families with Infinite Campus.

This will include creating an account, resetting old passwords, showing families how to sign electronic documents and more! Students will not be able to access electronic devices until all of their documents are signed, so please take advantage of this if you are having issues.

1. What is your name and where are you from originally?
"Shane Freshour, originally from Parkersburg, WV"

2. How long have you taught/worked at Marietta and at what schools do you teach/work at?
"This is my first year at Marietta City Schools working at the Administration Building."

3. What do you teach/do and what have you taught/done at Marietta over the years?
"I am the District Testing Coordinator and work in Student Services."

4. What is your favorite food?
"I would say Lobster or Crab Legs which I rarely get to enjoy."

5. What is your favorite movie?
"I enjoy all the Harry Potter Movies."

"The Little Prince by Antione de Saint-Exupery"

"I always thought it would be fun to work on a boat(fisheries like lobster or crab)."
