Hope Award

The Foundation is pleased to announce Mrs. Kathryn Sax as the 2022 recipient of the Hero of Pope Enduring (HOPE) Wall award. She is celebrated for the impact she made to the school climate through advocacy during her 20 year career as school counselor at Pope High School. Kathryn established and ran the Gay-Straight Alliance, sponsored and coordinated the Sources of Strength Program for su***de prevention and created the No Place for Hate Program, providing students of all backgrounds a place to express their genuine selves. She was a trusted confidant for her students, a valued sage for the faculty and a beacon of positivity for the school. Mrs. Sax made an enduring mark on Pope High School and our extended community. Tonight she is honored as our HERO.

Social & Auction Chairperson - Pope High School Foundation

We need your support in making an event for our school be a success by joining as a volunteer to chair the Social & Auction Fundraiser. The event is March 11th. We are underway with planning and need your skills to make it a success. The estimated amount of time would be 4-5 hour per week leading up to the event and more as we get closer as well as the night of the event.

Work closely with Event Organizer to manage activities including planning and event set up
Manage the items that come in for auction from various groups within the school
Work with even organizer in getting items set up within the program for auction
Manage volunteers for the planning and night of the event
On the night of the event be on site to help support the event organizer
Work with a committee and foundation members on branding and decorations

Letter from our new Principal that you should have received via CTLS:

I am so excited to write this letter introducing myself as the new principal of Allen C. Pope High School. I am honored to have this opportunity to work with and lead such an amazing group of students, parents, faculty and staff members, administration, and community leaders. I am grateful and fortunate to become part of a school with a history of great traditions and academic and extracurricular success.

As I approach my twentieth year in education, I am proud to have spent my entire career with the Cobb County School District. My journey began as a history teacher at Kell High School before moving into administration. From Kell, I moved to South Cobb High School as the Athletic Director and have spent the last three years at Wheeler High School as an Assistant Principal. I am anxious to continue this journey as the proud principal of Pope High School and eager to begin working with each of you to continue striving to ensure success for every student at Pope High School.

On a personal note, our family has lived in the area my entire life. My parents are retired educators, and my wife has taught with the district for 25 years. We have two high school-aged children. As a family, we value the importance of education, hard work, and community involvement. We enjoy spending our free time attending our children’s athletic events or with family and friends in the outdoors.

I strongly believe that education is a life-long journey that comes with great responsibility for ourselves and others. I believe that as educators, we must always allow students to be involved in the decision-making process. As leaders, we help and guide them to achieve their goals by providing opportunities to succeed.

I look forward to meeting you all soon. Together, let’s have a fantastic 2022-2023 school year.
