Yearbook class got a sweet lesson in design! 🍬📚

Students used snacks and candy to explore the key elements of a yearbook spread, from folios and headlines to captions, dominant packages and visual separators. Working in teams, they created unique layouts while putting their communication, leadership and design skills into practice.

All parents are invited to the annual Parent Coffee on Friday, August 28, from 7:30 – 9 a.m. at the 815 practice field, down the hill behind the Primary School. As part of our exploration of Middle School Fine Arts, our sixth-grade students had a wonderful opportunity this past Saturday to try a variety of musical instruments and discover which one might be the right fit for them.

The morning began with engaging instrument demonstrations, followed by a short concert featuring the local professional 3rd Stream Big Band. Students then had the chance to explore any instrument that interested them, with guidance from faculty members Dr. Kyna Elliott, Todd Motter and Paul Scanling, as well as professional musicians from 3rd Stream Big Band.

It was wonderful to see our future musicians exploring, experimenting, and having so much fun along the way. We are excited to see where their musical journeys take them!

🎓 College reps are on their way!

It’s officially college rep season at Walker! Starting today, August 24, our College Counseling Office will welcome admissions representatives from colleges and universities around the country to campus.

With 50+ college reps already scheduled, plus our first two mini-college fairs coming in September, our students will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, make connections and learn more about the possibilities that lie ahead.

And while the visits are exciting, they’re just one part of what makes Walker’s College Counseling Program so meaningful. Our counselors take an individualized approach to helping each student discover the colleges and universities that are the best fit for them, while supporting students and families through the application process and preparing them for a successful transition to college.

For our students, college counseling isn’t simply about getting into college. It’s about finding the right next chapter.

Here’s to a great year of conversations, connections and discovering what comes next.

Friday Night Lights are BACK! 🏈✨

Join us tonight on Robertson Field for a fun-filled community night as our Primary and Lower School cheer camp cheerleaders join our Varsity Cheerleaders for a special performance at 7 p.m.

Then, it’s kickoff at 7:30 p.m.! Bring the whole family and let’s make the first football game of the season one to remember.

We're excited to welcome our Wolverines back to campus this week. WOW Day is Wednesday, Aug. 12, and the first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 13. Be sure to review your division communications for specific information about your grade level.

REMINDER: The clinic (located in the Lower School office) will be open WOW day. Please use this time to bring in medications (EpiPens, inhalers, diabetic supplies, ADHD booster meds, etc.) your child might require during the school day. Please make sure these medications are not expired. The clinic resource page on Walker Web houses the procedure details and required parent forms.
