OVESC Parent Mentor Project All parent mentor services are free of charge to families. She lives in Barlow, Ohio. Mindy Schwendeman resides in Lowell, Ohio with her two sons.

A Parent Mentor is the parent of a child with a disability employed by the Ohio Educational Service Center to help families and school districts by providing FREE support, information and training services. Meet your Parent Mentors:

Tammy Hanger has been working as the Parent Mentor of Washington County for the past 22 years. She's has done and continues to do a great job connecting with families and schools and using her experience to help others. The oldest recently became a teenager and his brother only has two years before he reaches that milestone. At the age of two her youngest son was diagnosed with Autism. Mindy did not know that the Parent Mentor Program existed when she went through the process of navigating services, school and an IEP for her son. She is excited to use her experience to help other families through this amazing program. Travis Williams resides in Belpre, Ohio with his wife Kate and two daughters. He is currently serving as the Family Outreach Minister at the Belpre Church of Christ. Travis and Kate’s first daughter, Hadassah, was born with many complications and doctors predicted she wouldn’t be able to breath, eat, move, or communicate on her own. Haddie was a stubborn fighter and eventually was able to do all of those things. Despite being non verbal, she was able to enter kindergarten at Belpre Elementary and was learning to talk using eye gaze technology. She unexpectedly passed away from a seizure at the age of five in 2018. She was a blessing to everyone that ever met her and now her family seeks to continue to bless other children in the MOV with medical handicaps through a non profit fund that was set up in her name (The Haddie Fund). Travis is excited to be a Parent Mentor and use his experiences to help others.
