To prepare students for our upcoming projects, Save the Mall and Future Cities, they learned about scale factor and the importance of using a scale to model things that are smaller and bigger. Last week, students practiced making a scale model of a candy box. Each group got a candy box, they had to cut it out and put it on graph paper. They used the scale 1in = 5 in to make a larger image of their candy box. So many of them turned out great!!

🕵🏻‍♀️🫆🚓🔍 Today, the Blended Learning students used their new investigative skills (learned last week) to solve real world style crime scenes. The students chose groups of 4, then sent detectives into one of four "crime scenes." The students were required to collect all the evidence and submit it for analysis. Once the students collected evidence, they analyzed it by submitting subpoenas to multiple labs, then recorded the results. The students finished collecting evidence and are currently in the process of receiving lab results, interviewing suspects, viewing surveillance (one scene), and analyzing hair fibers. This is just one example of how the Blended Learning Program seeks work based opportunities for its students and executes it successfully. This is an important step in education, as it provides students with real world applications for using their newly learned skills. It also exposes students to future career opprotunities and interests.

Thank you to all of the families that came out to Meet the Teacher Night! It was great meeting new families, catching up with returning families, and even seeing some former students! We love our Blended family! 🧡🐯
