Mahalo to Home Is Our Sanctuary for inviting us to share about our Hawaiian Culture during their summer class session! The students were able to learn about the history of lei making and hula dancing. Then they were able to have an engaging experience in making their own lei out of gummy worms and learning a hula dance using shells that they got to take home. We had so much fun! We love teaching whereever we are invited, but we especially love teaching in our local community in Maricopa City.

If you are interested in our classes check out www.learnwithaloha.com

We also accept Class Wallet through ESA as a payment option.

Mahalo to the City of Goodyear for a wonderful lauhala weaving workshop today! It was so fun learning about the process of prepping lauhala and being able to make our own i'a (fish) adornment! What a great way to escape the 108 degree hot weather and learn more Hawaiian culture!

Yesterday we were invited be part of a Hawaiian themed birthday party where we got to dance and teach hula to their wonderful guests at their beautiful home in Hidden Valley. The mountains in the background and the calming breeze made the event a scenic experience to dance hula in the nature around us at their private home.

For anyone interested in booking a private event for a performance, workshop, or lessons, we would love to help and we accept ESA Class Wallet! Contact us at: www.learnwithaloha.com

We also have a free event at the Maricopa City Library on July 23rd at 10am, so mark your calendars as we teach about Hula and Hawaiian Petroglyph stories for the Summer Reading Program! A hui hou!

People ask at what age did you start teaching your kids hula? The answer is as soon as they are able. Our youngest would often sit on the side and watch. Watching is learning. Then as she gained the courage to try, she now dances as a preschool age student and we enjoy dancing hula as a family.

The traditional Hawaiian 'ōlelo no'eau (proverb): "Nānā ka maka; ho'olohe ka pepeiao; pa'a ka waha" means "Observe with the eyes, listen with the ears, shut the mouth." In school in Hawai'i, this is what we are taught to learn and be respectful to our kūpuna as they taught.

Today we were invited to share our Hawaiian culture at Sunrise Preschool. It was so fun to see the younger keiki in our community excited to dance and learn about Hawaiian Culture. Mahalo for allowing us to share our Spirit of Aloha with a bright generation of keiki!

Mahalo Queen Creek for allowing us to come and share about Ki'i Pōhaku and how petroglyphs and hula dancing tell stories. We had some amazing teenage artists participate and are grateful to share our cultural stories and legends!

It was also wonderful to be reunited with a previous student who danced with our Learn With Aloha 'ohana a couple years ago! It was so fun to talk story and catch up with their 'ohana!

Mahalo to the Arizona Asian American Association and the Mesa Temple Visitor's Center for allowing us to come and share our Polynesian culture! We had 'ono food and lots of fun dancing with the poi from New Zealand and hula dancing with implements from Hawai'i. Special mahalo to Pualani who led this event and for everyone we were able to meet through these wonderful organizations!

We were blessed to be invited to Prescott and teach about lei making and Hawaiian Petroglyphs. Prescott is a beautiful area where we enjoyed their forests and learned that some local hikes have petroglyphs! Mahalo to the community and participation as each of them took home their hand made lei and Hawaiian Petroglyph Coaster.
