🐓 Barnyard Biology – The Science of Small Livestock | 9:00–10:15 am
Anatomy, nutrition, genetics, and hands-on animal husbandry with sheep, goats, poultry & rabbits.

🍯 Herbal Apothecary – Food & Botanical Medicine | 10:30–11:45 am
Teas, infused honeys, syrups, salves, and the plant chemistry behind them.

🌱 Roots to Restoration – Plant Nursery Lab | 12:45–2:00 pm
Students build and run their own native plant nursery — seed to greenhouse.

🪶 First Peoples: Cultures of the Southeast | 2:15–3:30 pm
The history, foodways, art, and lasting impact of the Muscogee (Creek), Cherokee, Seminole, Choctaw, Chickasaw and more.

We started by planning a community garden on paper, and we finally planted our first seedlings. Between now and the end of our Spring Grow Wild module, they'll watch those decisions take root --- literally. There's no better feedback loop than a living one. 🌱🌿

Japan: complete. 🎌 Explorer Academy's Welcome to Japan module wrapped up this week with passport stamps, proud students, and a whole lot of knowledge they'll carry with them. Our Spring Module --- Viva Mexico --- is coming up next. Is your child's passport ready?

Biomimicry is the art of learning from nature to solve human problems. This week, Explorer Academy students studied one of its most famous examples --- how the shape of a kingfisher's beak inspired the nose of Japan's bullet train. Then they applied the same thinking to their own designs. Nature has been engineering longer than we have. 🐦✏️🚄

Before you can milk a cow, someone has to design the space. Agriscience Academy students learned this week that a milking parlor isn't just a barn --- it's a carefully engineered system built around animal behavior, workflow, and efficiency. Then they designed their own. From marshmallows and toothpicks to real agricultural science. 🐄🌱

Traditional Japanese festival games aren't just fun — they're a window into centuries of culture, community, and clever design. Explorer Academy students created, played, competed, and experienced fun through community games. 🎌🃏

Comparative mythology. Cultural symbolism. Structural design. This week's Explorer Academy class had it all --- starting with one question: what makes an Eastern dragon fundamentally different from a Western one? Students researched, debated, and then built their answers brick by brick. 🐉✏️

We discovered that a Zen garden isn't just beautiful — it's a language. Every rock, every raked line, every carefully placed element means something. Kids designed their own miniature garden prototypes. 🪨

🎮🏯 Most kids think Nintendo started with video games. It didn't.

This week at Kids By Design, students learned that Nintendo began in 1889 — making hand-painted playing cards in Japan. Over a century later, it became one of the most recognized names in gaming history.

That origin story sparked a big question: what makes a game worth playing?
Students took that question and ran with it — designing their own original board games from scratch. Mechanics, rules, artwork, and all.

Same instinct Nintendo had. Different century.
