There are SNAKES in our classroom!!! 🐍😱

What an incredible experience our Highland School kiddos had today! We got to meet snakes and two spiders up close ! 🐍 🕷️

The kiddos were full of curiosity as they observed, touched, held, asked questions, and learned more about these amazing creatures. What a fun way to bring our learning to life during reptile week!

A very special thank you to Archie’s family for bringing their slithering friends in to visit us! We are so grateful for the opportunity to give our kiddos such a hands-on learning experience. 💚

July has been one big adventure for our Highland School, Inc. kiddos! This month was packed with creativity, discovery, and lots of sunshine. We learned all about the wonderful world of art, creating colorful masterpieces and letting our imaginations run wild. 🎨✨

Our little learners became junior scientists as they explored exciting science experiments, made homemade butter, and enjoyed delicious s'mores while learning how they're made. 🔬🧈🍫

Of course, we couldn't forget to soak up the beautiful summer sunshine! From outdoor play to hands-on activities, every day was filled with laughter, learning, and making stronger friendships.💛

July has given us so many wonderful memories, and we can't wait to see what our final month of summer has in store for these amazing kiddos! 🌈😊

Stay tuned for more photos from July !!

I know our recent posts have been filled with hiring ads, but today I wanted to take a moment to share some well-deserved appreciation for these two incredibly talented ladies.

Almost four years ago, Mariah joined Highland School with very little experience working with children. What she may have lacked in experience, she more than made up for with her willingness to learn, her determination, and the enormous heart she brought with her every single day. Since then, she has grown, blossomed, and developed into one of the most loved teachers our center has ever had. She has a natural gift for connecting with children, making each one feel safe, valued, and loved. Her patience is endless, her creativity is inspiring, and she has an incredible ability to turn even the simplest moments into meaningful learning experiences. Whether she's comforting a child who's having a hard day, celebrating their biggest accomplishments, or teaching them important life skills through play, she gives every child her whole heart. Her dedication, hard work, genuine love, and compassion shines through in everything she does. She has truly become an irreplaceable part of Highland School and a role model for those around her. She has been a Godsend—not only to me, but to every child in her care. Her ability to build a strong foundation for learning while making every lesson fun, engaging, and inviting is something that cannot be measured.

And then there's this beautiful young lady who just so happens to be my daughter. Mylee has literally grown up at Highland School. She first attended the center at just two weeks old and remained here until she graduated preschool. At 16 years old, she began volunteering, and every summer since she has returned to work alongside me.
As her mom, it has been one of the greatest blessings to watch her develop such an incredible work ethic, learn to juggle countless responsibilities, and use her amazing artistic talents to create a classroom full of creativity and joy. But what makes me the proudest is seeing the genuine love, patience, and kindness she pours into every child she teaches.
As she returns to college for her senior year, I know she is going to accomplish incredible things. She is going to make a phenomenal teacher, and while our Highland family will miss her tremendously, I couldn't be more excited to watch her chase her dreams.

To both Mariah and Mylee—thank you for everything you do. Thank you for loving the children of the center as if they were your own, for making each day meaningful, and for helping shape the lives of so many little ones. Highland School is a better place because of both of you.
These children are lucky to have you both, and so am I.
