Mr.Nolen, Mrs. Dean and Mrs. Grantham’s classes at JAWD/Sunland gathered this morning to have a time of remembrance of September 11, 2001. A brief history of the day was shared with the students, one of our paraprofessionals, Mr. Ken Braxton. was recognized as Veteran, we saluted and pledged to the American Flag, and we sang three songs about our country. In addition, we all participated in the artwork you see. God Bless America🇺🇸🗽❤️🤍💙

Mrs. Grantham’s class honored Dolly Parton’s memory last Friday by listening to some of most popular hits during class. They also wanted to create a bulletin board for September in her memory. ⏰9 to 5🎶

📚 Back to School & Back to Learning! ✏️

Our Community Day students are back, and we’ve started the school year by working on assessments! 📝

Assessments may not be the most exciting part of returning to school 😂, but they give us a chance to see what our students already know, recognize their strengths, and determine where we can help them grow.

Our goal isn’t just to measure what they can do, but to help them build on their abilities, learn new skills, gain confidence, and celebrate progress along the way.

Here’s to a new school year filled with learning, growth, new experiences, and lots of reasons to celebrate! 🌟

☀️ Summer fun starts now! ☀️

This week we were thrilled to kick off 3 weeks of exciting summer fun activities!

🌟 On Tuesday students started the week off making tie dye shirts.

🌟 On Wednesday they enjoyed an outing to the movies and Chick Fil A.

🌟 On Thursday students got more creative painting rocks and sun catchers.

Though these activities look like fun and games, there is an educational aspect.

Engaging hands-on projects naturally teach critical thinking, problem-solving, and core STEM concepts without feeling like schoolwork and allow students to strengthen fine motor skills.

A fun trip to the movies and Chick-Fil-A gave students the perfect opportunity to practice real-world life skills. They put financial literacy into action by budgeting and ordering, while sharpening their social etiquette and narrative comprehension skills along the way.

☀️💦 **Community Day Water Fun!** 💦☀️

Community Day students traded the classroom for some outdoor fun and enjoyed a day of water games at their end-of-year party! From splashing through challenges to cheering on their friends, there were plenty of smiles and laughter.

These activities did more than cool us off on a warm day. They helped students practice teamwork, communication, following directions, and good sportsmanship while building confidence.

🎤❤️ What a wonderful visit at Marianna Health and Rehab!

Last Friday our Community Day students had the opportunity to spend time with the residents singing karaoke, sharing smiles, and making memories together. Music has a special way of bringing people together, and it was amazing to see the joy on everyone's faces as they sang along to familiar songs and cheered each other on.

Thank you to the residents and staff at Marianna Health and Rehab for welcoming us. We always enjoy our visits and look forward to coming back soon! 🎶😊
