Today our CAPS Associates traveled to Sheldon and met with all the Siouxland CAPS programs for our Innovation Showcase. As the name suggests, we showcased the work we have done throughout the semester and our associates were able to network with each other and make connections as well. We will hold our local innovation showcase at the high school in Marcus 3:15-3:45 on Monday, December 15.

How CAPS has impacted me? CAPS has been really helpful with me to grow my professionalism. Within CAPS you really learn more about your skills and other peoples skill. You also gain leadership skills and great communication skills. I know that by taking CAPS I will be more successful and professional throughout whatever career I choose. I am really glad I took the program.

Hobbies: Football, Basketball, Golf, Disc Golf, Ping Pong, Video Games, Spikeball, Volleyball, Drawing, Watch Sports, Eat

How CAPS has impacted me? CAPS has impacted me for the better. Even though I have only been in CAPS for seven weeks now, I have learned a lot. Working on my professional skills, whether it's how to properly introduce myself and shake hands, where a name tag goes, or how to promote a business and/or product. I have built many connections with community members in several different fields already from someone working at our home site (United Bank of Iowa), to business owners in complete other towns.

Fun Fact: I was one of the fastest 800 meter runners in the state for the nine year old division as I finished top five at the state meet and qualified with one of the fastest times out of all nine and ten year old kids.

This morning our CAPS program worked to achieve one of our standards of being “Globally and Competent Servant Leaders”. We cleared out a building at the Marcus Fairgrounds so it can be utilized by the Royals Wrestling program this winter. Glad we can be a part of our community helping each other out and serving each other.

Today our CAPS Associates traveled to Northwestern College where Dr. Erica Vonk led them through etiquette of name, tags, techniques for small talk, and an exercise in teambuilding. our associates then were able to retro what went well and how they could apply this in their future endeavors. Cherokee CAPS, South Ob’Brien Caps, and Ridge View Caps also joined us!

Today we had our “Penning Ceremony”. In this ceremony our associates become “official”. By receiving a CAPS pen this means associates have completed their onboarding training and are ready to use their professional skills as a group and on their own. Well done associates, continue to grow those skills.
