Godfather of Homicide Vernon Geberth: A Cop's Cop if you want to read the true story about a highly decorated street cop, an American Hero, this is the book for you. A short back story. In 1985, my partner Ron Grant and I were the first Detectives from Quincy Police Department to attend a 2 week intense course at Northwestern University titled Practical Homicide Investigation. The instructor was Lt. Cmdr. Vernon Geberth NYPD. His textbook Practical Homicide Investigation is considered as the Bible of Homicide Investigation. Lt.Cmdr Geberth has trained thousands of cops and continues to train Federal, State, County and Municipal police officer's world wide. Hands down the best training I ever received in my career. It fundamentally changed my approach to crime scene investigations as it was hammered home "You only get one chance to do it right" and we "speak for those who can no longer speak". My PHI textbook was part of my go bag until I retired. Ron and I often commented what makes Vernon tick. How did he become the copper and true professional he is. This book is his biography. Hard nosed, old school, fearless he mastered his profession through Investigation of hundreds of homicides, he furthered his education from a thirst for knowledge, while working the mean streets of New York. It's not Hollywood cops or made for TV cops. This is his story including investigations and criminals he dealt with. I recommend you get the Second Edition written by Vince Cardillo, who knows Vernon better than anyone. It's a much smoother read than the First Edition.

I commented on the Assassination of NYPD Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos who were shot and killed on December 20, 2014 while sitting in their marked patrol car by a Black Racist Killer.
My appearance on the Judge Jeaine's show was to point out how Obama and the Anti-Cop politicians were demonizing the police for their own political asperations.
I referred to previous Black Libration Army assasinations of NYPD cops during the 1970's and how the same rhetoric was responsible for police officers being killed.

Lt. Joseph Gliniewicz Fox Laker, Illinois Police used his 30 years of police experience—specifically in staging mock crime scenes for training—to fabricate a struggle. He staged his Su***de as a “Police Homicide” on September 1, 2015.

Lt. Cmdr. (Ret) Vernon Geberth's Key Analytical Findings

• Psychological Manipulation: Geberth told NBC Chicago that Gliniewicz exploited the high-tension environment of 2015, specifically the recent line-of-duty killings of four other officers. He knew his colleagues would respond with maximum force and less skepticism due to the "active shooter" climate.
• The "Police Panic": Geberth criticized the initial response, noting there was "no adequate incident command" at the scene. He described this as a "police panic" that inadvertently fanned the "flames of confusion" and helped Gliniewicz’s staged scene appear more legitimate.
• Sophisticated Staging: Having authored what is considered the "Bible of murder investigation," Geberth admitted the ruse was so complete that he himself "would have jumped on it as a police homicide/active shooter" initially.
• Educational Legacy: Geberth has since integrated the Gliniewicz case into his training sessions for police across the country to teach them how to identify and avoid being misled by similarly elaborate staged suicides.

It was the investigative reporting and the airing on CBS 48 Hours as well as the local News in Topeka Kansas that encoraged the District Attorney's Office to take another look at this Double Murder.The Topeka Police Department had requested an Investigativefrom Lt. Cmdr. (Ret.) NYPD Vernon Geberth.

Dana Chandler Report

Dana Chandler was found guilty for the second time on March 7, 2025, for the 2002 murders of her ex-husband, Michael Sisco, and his fiancée, Karen Harkness.
This verdict came after a lengthy legal process involving three separate trials:
• First Trial (2012): She was originally convicted and sentenced to life in prison. However, the Kansas Supreme Court overturned this conviction in 2018 due to extreme prosecutorial misconduct.
• Second Trial (2022): A retrial in Shawnee County ended in a hung jury after jurors deadlocked.
• Third Trial (2025): Representing herself, Chandler was again convicted of two counts of first-degree murder on March 7, 2025.
On June 3, 2025, a judge sentenced her to two consecutive life sentences, making her ineligible for parole for at least 50 years.
In March of 2007 I acted as a consultant for the Topka Police Department and prepared a Report with the following conclusions:
In the opinion of the undersigned, as an expert in murder investigation, and based upon the various reports, which I have reviewed and analyzed, I conclude that Dana Chandler is an extremely dangerous person and highly capable of committing murder to satisfy her personal need for revenge.

This Double-Homicide was a Personal Anger Retaliatory Homicide, which is the type of murder committed by someone who knows or has been in a relationship with the victim.
It is a personal crime motivated by anger, jealously and revenge. This crime was premeditated and calculated by the offender, who had previously stalked her victims and knew when and where they would be. Dana Chandler planned the time, method and place for the murders and was extremely careful not to leave any physical evidence.

Dana Chandler attempted to conceal her travel from Denver, Colorado to Topeka, Kansas The Topeka police investigation has basically discredited Chandler’s alibi.
Although the authorities, at this time do not have hard physical evidence, to link Dana Chandler to the crime scene, there is an abundance of circumstantial evidence as enunciated within this report, which would lead a reasonable person to conclude that Dana Chandler is the one, and only person who had the motive, means and opportunity to have committed these murders.
