Every student is preparing for life after high school.
For students on IEPs, that path requires intentional planning and targeted skill-building.

I’m looking forward to speaking with the Newton SEPAC at a free virtual event for community members focused on what transition planning really means, how family and student rights fit into the process, and practical ways to build independence and self-determination skills that support adult success.

In this session, we’ll cover:
• What effective transition planning should include for students on IEPs
• Why skill-building is just as important as academic readiness
• Everyday ways families can support transition planning at home

The Board of Directors of the Marblehead Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) wants to recognize all the Unsung Heroes in our community who have made a difference in the lives of our children with special needs.

Share the story of your Unsung Hero of the Special Education Community. Unsung Heroes can be anyone in the community or school – anyone who has shown exemplary work, made a significant contribution, and/or impact beyond their expected responsibilities.

Each nomination should highlight one person and include a brief story about how this person has impacted the special education community or a person within the special education community.
The Marblehead SEPAC wants to collect your stories before June 17, 2025 so we can honor all heroes in June.

The Unsung Hero Event, established by the Marblehead SEPAC, is a way to recognize the people who make a difference in our special education world, particularly those who may not always get the credit they deserve.
