Tower's fourth grade science students visited Marblehead's Oyster Upweller to learn how it functions, while creating a safe environment for baby oysters to grow. The upweller is part of a multi-organization-undertaking to restore oyster populations in Salem Sound and improve the coastal ecosystem.

Oysters are known as a keystone species, meaning that they help to create a healthy environment for plants and sea life to thrive while also guarding against coastal erosion. Science teacher Colleen Parenteau's fourth graders were excited to see how much the young oysters (40,000 of them!) have grown.

Teamwork, strategy-testing, encouragement and self-confidence were among the skills these 4th graders honed at Nature’s Classroom. They had a great experience together in the woods—thank you, Project Adventure!

Tower’s Seventh Graders had a great trip to Outdoor Classroom’s camp in Groton. Through nature hikes, scavenger hunts, use of ancient tools and techniques and evening skills sessions, they learned about history, local geology, plants, and ancient, global hunting tools. They had a busy few days—but of course, saved time for recess.
