Our long-time partners at Seed St. Louis picked up most of the cost of installing two raised beds and three fruit trees at our High School/Middle School garden today. Under the direction of teacher Melissa Breed-Parks and Chani Sorkin of Seed St. Louis, these students rolled up their sleeves and filled the beds with several dozen wheelbarrows filled with soil, after helping to assemble the beds themselves. They also hacked through some pretty rocky earth to get that tree into the ground. Here's to dirt under the fingernails!

MS Seed to Table classes’ final cooking challenge was to make a recipe of their choice using an ingredient from the garden—could be honey, eggs, strawberries, lettuce, peas, herbs, or greens. Many groups opted for baked goods, and strawberry popsicles will be emerging from the freezer for our final class!
