A wonderful morning of clay, creativity, and community at the Union Township Senior Center yesterday.

For this hand-building pottery workshop, everyone created monstera leaf-inspired pottery pieces while learning basic clay techniques, texture, and surface design. Although everyone started with the same project, no two pieces ever look alike. That's always one of the best parts of working with clay.

Last night we wrapped up another Adult Pottery Workshop with the SOMA Adult School.

Participants explored hand-building techniques and created a variety of functional and sculptural pieces. From organic forms to clean, simple vessels, it was a great evening of creativity, conversation, and learning.

One of the things we enjoy most about these workshops is seeing how differently everyone interprets the same techniques and materials. No two pieces are ever alike.

We had a great time on Thursday at the Johanna W. Westergard Library in Piscataway for our Children’s Pottery Workshop.

Participants learned hand-building techniques while creating their own clay pots from start to finish.

One of our favorite parts of these workshops is watching ideas come to life in clay.

A few seats are still open for our Adult Pottery Workshop at The Adult School of the Chathams, Madison & Florham Park on Monday, April 27 (7–9 PM at Madison High School).

If you’ve been thinking about signing up, this is a good time to lock in your spot.

We’ll start with a quick demo of core hand-building techniques, slab and coil building, how to join pieces securely, and ways to add texture and surface detail. From there, you’ll move into creating your own functional piece, think trays, vessels, small pots, or a catch-all—with time for guidance and finishing touches along the way.

Everyone leaves with a fully constructed piece to take home.

All materials and tools are provided.
