📣 North Dakota is seeking input from parents, educators, students, and community members on responsible technology use in our classrooms.

State Superintendent Levi Bachmeier, alongside legislative and executive leaders, has launched a statewide survey to gather public perspectives on how technology can best support student learning. The survey is open now through August 1.

The survey asks participants to weigh in on topics including:
📱 Device use limits at the elementary level
🏠 Whether students should take devices home
🖥️ Monitoring software on school-issued devices
📅 Virtual instruction policies and make-up days

Survey results will inform policy recommendations ahead of the 2027 legislative session, building on the success of North Dakota's phone-free schools legislation.

The proposed Safety and Security Levy would cost taxpayers approximately $22.50 per year for every $100,000 of taxable home valuation. Your home’s taxable valuation can be found on your property tax statement from Cass County or through the county’s online property records.

For example, a home with a taxable valuation of $400,000 would see an estimated annual tax increase of $90 for the 5-mill levy.

Voters will be able to vote on this levy on June 9th, 2026.

On June 9th, 2026, the Mapleton School District taxpayers will be asked to vote on a Safety and Security Mill Levy which would allow the school district to levy up to 5 mills for a maximum of 5 years. Our goal, should the levy pass, is to fund our School Resource Officer position as well as make some much needed safety and security updates to our school. The document lays out the proposed expenditures over the course of 5 years. We are looking for community input on these items. Please join me on Tuesday, May 19th, from 7:00 am to 7:30 am to ask questions and share ideas on the proposed expenditures or to share areas of feedback pertaining to the safety and security of our school. Our staff tried to be super sneaky last week with an underground dress-up week. Started out with socks amd sandals, then concert day, Wig Wednesday and Zoom Call Thursday. Finished with our PTO sponsored Falcon gear and some interesting drink containers. Lots of fun was had!
