We’re so excited to announce our October Teacher Spotlight at Voice in the Valley Music School, where we celebrate the incredible educators who make music come alive for our students 🎶

Our Teacher Spotlight goes to the amazing Mr. Peter Schumacher 💛! Peter has a true gift for meeting students exactly where they are and turning every lesson into something joyful, encouraging, and inspiring.

One of his students put it perfectly:

Avery Runkel
Avery is a hardworking vocal student of Ms. Mia. Avery has made so many strides in her vocal control, belting and confidence which were our big hurdles when she started. She’s doing amazing and Ms. Mia is so proud of you! Keep up the great work, Avery!

Connor Dahlstrom
Connor is a dedicated piano student of Ms. Susie. Connor always comes in to the piano lesson prepared. It shows that he not only practices but also enjoys playing. Keep up the great work Connor!

Samprith Shyam
Samprith is a dedicated piano student of Mr. Lincoln. Samprith has done such a good job this month consistently practicing every week and has completed the most songs this month than ever before! Keep up the grind Samprith!

Ishani Chattaraj
Ishani is a hardworking vocal student of Ms. Jessica. She always comes in prepared with music and an enthusiastic attitude! She's made amazing progress in such a short time frame and Ms. Jessica has a blast working with her. Keep up the great work Ishani!

Shaeley Heinrichs
Shaeley is a dedicated guitar student of Mr. Rober. Shaeley recently learned songs and performed with a student guitar-group for the first time and did a fantastic job! We are so proud of you! Keep up the great work Shaeley!

Eli Segovia
Eli is a hardworking violin student of Mr. Devin. Eli has been working so hard and keeping focused on learning violin, he has completing his intro course and is a CVP certified violin player! Amazing! Keep up the great work Eli!

Olivia Buckley
Olivia is a dedicated voice student of Ms. Susie. Olivia comes in to each lesson with such a positive attitude. Ms. Susie has been amazed at how well she took direction and did the work to improve. She has an amazing voice and presence! It is a pleasure to work with her. Keep up the great work Olivia!

Gavin Genberg
Gavin is a violin student of Ms. Maria, has been working hard on audition after audition! First he successfully auditioned for the select chamber orchestra at his school, and now he on to preparing for the junior WMEA all state orchestra audition. Keep up the hard work Gavin!

We are so grateful to partner with Little Musicians Studio and to have these wonderful Music Together® classes right here at VIV twice each week! There is something so special about watching little ones experience music through singing, movement, play, and connection with the grown-ups they love.

✨ Meet the teacher behind Little Musicians Studio! ✨

If you’re new here, I thought it was time to share a little more about me—and how I ended up here. 💛

Music has been a HUGE part of my life for as long as I can remember. 🎶 I originally went to college planning to study Music Education, because I knew I wanted music to be part of my life and career.

But, as life often does, my plans changed! I switched my major to Vocal Performance, and eventually found myself studying Psychology. Looking back, I think each of those paths gave me something that I use today. 🎵🧠

After college, I met my husband ❤️ and worked as a behavioral health counselor, where I also had the opportunity to lead music therapy groups. I saw firsthand how powerful music could be—not just as something we listen to, but as a way to connect, communicate, learn, and build relationships.

Then I became a mom. 👶

After my son was born, I attended a Music Together® class that was being taught by my old voice teacher from high school. And I absolutely LOVED it.

I had so much fun singing, dancing, being silly, and making music with my little one. More importantly, I loved the way music brought us together. 💕

I started looking for more classes, but there weren’t any studios close by.

So I thought…

Why not start one? ✨

And that little idea became Little Musicians Studio. 🎶

What started with a love of music and a desire to find a class for my own child has grown into something I never could have imagined.

Today, I’m a mom to FOUR kiddos, and I get to share two things I’m incredibly passionate about: music + connecting with families. 🥹💛

I get to sing. I get to be silly. I get to watch little ones discover their voices and find their beat. I get to help grown-ups make memories with their children.

And somehow, all those twists and turns—from Music Education ➡️ Vocal Performance ➡️ Psychology ➡️ behavioral health ➡️ motherhood ➡️ Music Together®—led me right here.

Today we celebrate the universal language that connects us all: MUSIC! ❤️

At Voice in the Valley, we have the privilege of watching music bring confidence, creativity, joy, and connection into the lives of our students every single day. From the first notes of a beginner to the performances of our seasoned musicians, every student has a unique musical voice worth celebrating.

For more than 15 years, we’ve been grateful to share the gift of music with our Maple Valley community, one lesson, one song, and one student at a time. 🎤🎹🎻🎸
