We see a world that is fractured, where people are at odds with themselves and one another, and disconnected from their communities. Sunyata observes an insight from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama (Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso) that “Everyone wants and needs to be Heard, Seen, and Loved ⏤ in that order ⏤ and when that is not happening, mischief occurs.”

Sunyata teaches the skills of self-awareness, awareness of impact on others, and deeply understanding others’ perspectives. The result is that people learn to recognize their own issues and narratives, so that they can not only experience a greater degree of inner peace, but also engage with difference without closing off communication or doing harm to others. As we do this in our interpersonal relationships, organizations, and communities, we are able to change the world in a way that actually decreases suffering and increases joy in our human experience together, teaches the skills of self-awareness, awareness of impact on others, and deeply understanding others’ perspectives, and yearning for Belonging.
