I met a friend today at the Elder Ballou Cemetery and Cumberlandite site. We did a little exploring and I took a few pictures and a video of the old stone burial crypts. I noticed how the structure and construction of the last 2 crypts are different from the 1st two as you are looking at them from left to right.

The town of Cumberland has links to some great old, historic maps. The 1838 Newell Nelson map has the outcrop labeled as Iron Rock Hill which is what it was called back then. Check them out here:

Check out this amazing hunk of Cumberlandite cut and polished by a Rhode Island Mineral Hunters member. He even made the stand himself out of spalted Hackberry, Maple and burlwood. Beautiful!
