Bird week was busy🐦‍⬛ We made bird feeders and hung them in our tree, crafted binoculars and searched high and low around the playground, went on a birding walk and played with bird seed sensory bins.

We were able to spot Robins, Red winged Black Birds and a whole lot of Geese! What kind of birds do you see in your back yard?

We have exciting news-Cedar Creek is expanding their enrollment by 30 children by 2028! That means 56 total slots for care for Wexford families!

From caterpillar to chrysalis to the great Monarch butterfly- our students watched the metamorphosis in action!

As of today, we have 2 caterpillars, 2 chrysalises and 1 freshly emerged butterfly that we’ve been observing closely.

Can you guess what the children decided to name the butterfly today?

Last Friday we had a special visitor! 🦝
One of our families is rehabbing a baby raccoon and we were able to see her and even get some sweet baby snuggles- a little different from the baby snuggles we are used to here at Cedar Creek😅

Our preschoolers found their first monarch caterpillars! Our big friend has already built a chrysalis in our butterfly tent. This is the type of hands on learning kids are meant to have!🐛

♥️GLUE TABLE♥️

Why is letting children freely glue random material to a board learning? 🤔 Let’s take a look at the conversations it creates!

🫶🏻Social Emotional:

“Can you hand me the q tip?” “Do you want to add the glue here while I hold the pipe cleaner?” All while deciding how much glue, what goes where and if it will stay or be peeled back up. Collaboration and autonomy are skills that need to be practiced before kindergarten comes around the corner!

🔎STEM:

“Do you see the glue coming down my plate?!” “Do you think you can stack these on top of each other?” “I made a circle and put another circle on top which is kind of like a snowman” Shapes, balance, gravity all being discussed before 5 years old in the same 5 minutes.

✨Sensory:

“If I get glue on my arm it will dry and I can peel it off!” “The flowers are so soft but this noodle is bumpy so I’ll put it next to the bumpy pile I made.”

Discussing changes of properties and problem solving as well as sorting and categorizing in real time using the senses!

This is what we mean when we say playing is learning 🧠 It really only has to be a 50 cent bottle of glue and materials you were already going to throw in the garbage 🗑️

Teacher appreciation week has come to a close and Mother’s Day is upon us!

This past week we honored our teachers with gifts, acts of service and love! Parents also catered in lunch and shared kind words.

We appreciate our staff and all of the hard work, dedication and love it takes to be in this profession.

We see all of our working moms balancing schedules, packing diapers, wipes, water bottles, extra outfits and battling tears at drop off just to have to pry their kids away at pick up😂

Thank you for all you do- daycare moms and moms alike 💕
