Attack angle, sail depth, and twist, OH MY!!! Throw in some lift force vectors and how they effect the Center of Resistance and Center of Effort relationship, all controlled by a myriad of sail controls, and you’ve got ASA 102, Advanced Boat Handling and Sail Trim. Bowman extraordinaire Mike Hutchinson guest lectured and then we went out to live and practice the classroom theory on Go with the Flo, our Bristol 38.8. What a great and fun class to teach! A great and HOT morning on Shallowbag Bay sailing our Colgate 26, Hart 2 Hart with Russell from Connecticut who’s girlfriend races dinghies so he thought it wise to get up to speed and fine tune his sailing skills. Good work Russell! We’ve got upcoming 101, 102, and 104 classes on the calendar. Pick one on our website calendar or pick a date that’s more convenient. Either way, it’s a great time to go sailing!!⛵️⛵️⛵️.

It’s always fun to bring guest speakers/teachers on board to supplement what we can offer our students. Our racing bowman and tactician Mike joined us for some sailing fun in Shallowbag Bay on our Bristol 38.8, Go with the Flo. Mike imparted lots of advanced sail trim knowledge and gave student Doug one more person to act as crew during tacks, jibes, single reefs, double reefs, heaving to and COB drills in preparation for his charter in Martinique in February.

A VERY fun two days on Hart 2 Hart, our Colgate 26. H2H stood up very well to the winds that turned blustery. Doug is getting great experience, including heavy weather experience, while he learns the ASA 101 standards to prepare for his charter in Martinique in February.

WOW! What a week of rain, wind, and postponed sailing charters. What a mess, but we were able to find a short weather window Friday afternoon for Graham and Finn from AZ to discover the joys of sailing aboard our Colgate 26, Hart 2 Hart. I believe Finn is SOLD on sailing and I can't wait to see where he lands in the future. We've got upcoming 101, 102, and 104 classes scheduled with open slots available.
