A message from our principal, Mrs. Peterson:

Manteca High School Community,

As many of you have already heard, Friday night’s varsity football game was brought to an abrupt and upsetting end following reports of gunfire near our school’s gym.

First and foremost, I want to reassure our families that the Manteca Police Department responded immediately and is actively and thoroughly investigating the incident. We are deeply grateful that no injuries occurred. Our administration, staff, and emergency personnel moved swiftly to secure the area and ensure the campus was cleared safely.

I know how deeply unsettling this was. Experiencing sudden distress at a school event is something no student, athlete, parent, educator, or community member should ever have to experience. The fear and panic felt were real, and our hearts are with every single Buffalo who was shaken by what occurred.

Our students’ emotional well-being is our immediate priority. When our campus reopens Monday, counseling and mental health support services will be available in the school office for any students, athletes, or staff members needing help processing the emotions of last night. If anyone needs support, please do not hesitate to contact our office or connect them with a trusted staff member.

I am profoundly grateful for our coaching staff, school staff, administrative team, and the Manteca Police Department for acting decisively to protect our community. Most of all, thank you to our students and families for your swift cooperation and for looking out for one another during an incredibly difficult moment.

CTE Students, normal schedule starts 8/10. On 8/6-8/7 please do the following:

1. Students arrive at MHS and check with the Attendance Clerk.
2. Students may go to the library or counseling center only (if the library is closed, students must go to the counseling center).
