This Saturday, our very own music teacher, Mrs. Puck, will be participating in the Congenital Heart Walk in San Francisco, carrying Avaโ€™s name with her every step of the way.

Ava was a bright light in our Shasta family, and Mrs. Puck is walking in her memory while honoring all Heart Warriors and their families. Every donation helps fund life-saving research, treatments, and hope for children born with congenital heart defects.

If you would like to support this important cause, please consider making a donation using the link below. Thank you for helping keep Avaโ€™s memory alive and for supporting families affected by congenital heart disease.

๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’› A Huge THANK YOU to Our Incredible Shasta Custodians! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ

As we get closer to welcoming our students back to campus, we want to take a moment to recognize the amazing work of our custodial team.

While summer is a time for many to relax, our custodians have been hard at work behind the scenes. They have spent countless hours deep cleaning classrooms, waxing floors, moving furniture, tackling landscaping projects, making repairs, and ensuring every corner of our campus is clean, safe, and ready for another incredible school year.

Their dedication, pride, and hard work often go unnoticed, but the beautiful campus our students and staff return to each August is a direct result of everything they do.

From all of us at Shasta; our staff, students, families, and community, THANK YOU for everything you do to make our school shine. We truly appreciate your commitment to our Hornet family and all the heart you put into preparing our campus for another successful year.

If you see one of our custodians, please take a moment to thank them. They are an essential part of what makes Shasta such a special place! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ Shasta Summer Handbook Highlight #3: Arrival, Dismissal & Parking Lot Safety ๐Ÿš—

As we continue our Shasta Summer Handbook Highlights, this weekโ€™s focus is on safe arrival, being on time, and keeping our parking lots safe for everyone.

โฐ Morning Arrival
โœ… Students may not arrive on campus before 7:45 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the MUSD Expanded Learning (before-school) program. There is no adult supervision before 7:45 a.m. If a student is dropped off early, parents will be contacted and asked to remain with their child until supervision begins.

๐Ÿ”” Be On Time!
โ€ข 7:58 a.m. โ€“ First Bell (students should already be on campus and heading to class)
โ€ข 8:00 a.m. โ€“ Tardy Bell

๐Ÿšช The gates close promptly at 8:00 a.m.
If your child arrives after the gates have closed, they are considered tardy and must report to the office for a tardy pass before going to class.

Being on time helps students start their day successfully and builds habits that will benefit them throughout life.

๐Ÿš— Parking Lot Safety
Safety is everyoneโ€™s responsibility during drop-off and pick-up!

โ€ข Only vehicles with an approved parking pass may enter the back parking lot during arrival and dismissal.
โ€ข TK and Kindergarten families will receive a parking pass to use the back lot for drop-off and pick-up.
โ€ข All other families should use the designated drop-off areas outside the parking lot.

Please help us keep our Hornets safe by:
๐Ÿ Parking only in marked parking spaces if you need to get out of your vehicle.
๐Ÿ Do not stop in traffic lanes or use curbs as parking spaces to drop students off.
๐Ÿ Never park in red curbs, yellow loading zones, handicap spaces (without a placard), or reserved parking spaces.
๐Ÿ Follow the directions of our School Safety Assistants (SSAs), who are there to keep everyone safe.
๐Ÿ Drive slowly, stay alert, and always watch for students crossing.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure every Shasta Hornet has a safe, smooth, and successful start to each school day! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

๐Ÿ Shasta Summer Handbook Highlight #2: Electronic Devices ๐Ÿ

As we continue our Shasta Summer Handbook Highlights, this weekโ€™s focus is on Electronic Devices.

At Shasta, we are committed to providing a learning environment where students can stay focused, engaged, and connected with their teachers, not their phones/electronic devices.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Please remember:

โœ… Students may bring a cell phone or other electronic device to school.
โœ… ALL electronic devices must be completely powered OFF and put away while on campus. Silent mode is not acceptable.
โœ… Devices must remain out of sight at all times while on campus, including during passing periods, recess, lunch, and restroom breaks.
โœ… Students may not take photos or videos at school without permission from an administrator or designee.

๐Ÿ“ฆ For students in grades 5โ€“8:
All cell phones must be placed in classroom lockboxes for the entire school day. This helps create a distraction-free learning environment and supports student achievement.

๐Ÿ“ต If a student does not follow the electronic device policy:
โ€ข The student will receive one verbal warning.
โ€ข If the behavior continues, the phone will be confiscated.
โ€ข A parent or guardian will be required to pick up the device from the school office.
โ€ข Students in grades 5โ€“8 who do not place their phone in the lockbox and are found with it during the day will receive a work detail consequence during lunch in addition to parent pickup.

Electronic devices include, but are not limited to:
๐Ÿ“ฑ Cell phones โ€ข โŒš Smartwatches โ€ข ๐Ÿ’ป Tablets & laptops โ€ข ๐ŸŽฎ Gaming devices โ€ข ๐ŸŽง AirPods and earbuds

Thank you for partnering with us to minimize distractions and maximize learning for all students.

๐Ÿ Shasta Summer Parent-Student Handbook Highlight #1: Dress Code ๐Ÿ

As we prepare for another great school year, we will be using the summer months to highlight important sections of the Shasta Parent-Student Handbook. Our first topic is Dress Code.

Our goal is to maintain a safe, respectful, and learning-focused environment for all students. As you begin back-to-school shopping, please keep the following reminders in mind:

โœ… Shirts must provide full coverage of the front, back, and sides under the arms.
โœ… Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be of modest length. The bottom of the buttocks should not be visible at any time.
โœ… Clothing must adequately conceal undergarments. Visible undergarments, including bra straps, are not permitted.
โœ… Bare abdomens (midriffs) are not allowed.
โœ… Shoes must be worn at all times.

Students may wear tank tops, leggings, athletic attire, and ripped jeans, provided they meet the district dress code guidelines and do not expose undergarments or inappropriate areas.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure all students come to school ready to learn while following our school expectations of:

๐Ÿ–ค Be Safe
๐Ÿ’› Be Respectful
๐Ÿ–ค Be Responsible
๐Ÿ’› Be Here
