The Early Childhood Development and Family Center of Avoyelles Come LEAP into learning at ECDC! We are a one of a kind learning center for children 6 weeks to 12 years old. We are open 5 days a week from 6 am to 6 pm.

Our Lead Teachers are certified and use a top tier curriculum. CCAP and is available.

This week, our curriculum in EVERY classroom was all about our five senses — and yes, that includes our tiniest learners too! 💚👶

Our infants explored different sensory mats with their hands and feet, felt different textures, and even had their tiny toes tickled with soft feathers. 🪶🥰

These activities may look simple, but so much learning is happening! During the first five years of life, a child’s brain develops at an incredible rate, building connections through everyday experiences like touching, hearing, seeing, smelling, moving, and exploring.

At ECDC, learning starts from the very beginning — even with those sweet little toes! 🐸💚

It’s hard to believe September 11, 2001 was a quarter of a century ago. 🇺🇸

For the children in our classrooms today, 9/11 is history. They have no memory of that day or of the fear, heartbreak, and uncertainty so many of us felt. But they also didn’t experience what came immediately after—the undeniable love for one another, the kindness, the patriotism, and the incredible sense of unity we shared as communities and as a country.

It’s our job to teach them not only what happened, but also what we learned about compassion, courage, helping our neighbors, and coming together during the hardest of times.

Today at ECDC, we took time to remember. Ms. Jordyn—our resident musician—treated us to a beautiful little concert. ❤️🤍💙

Let’s pull back the curtain and see what’s happening in Pre-K 3 today! 👀🎃

Ms. Jordyn, Ms. Hali and Ms. Lauren led such a fun hands-on experiment as our little learners explore their five senses this week! She made different batches of play dough with special scents, and the kids had to use their noses to smell the play dough and match each scent to the correct pumpkin! 👃🏼🎃

Learning through smelling, touching, exploring, and PLAYING—that’s how we do it at ECDC! 💚🐸

👀 ECDC Families… we have something FUN in the works for our little ones! 🐸💚

We’re working on a special addition to our playground, and we need your help making it come to life!

Before you throw out or donate those old kitchen items, send them our way! We are currently collecting:

🍳 Small metal pots & pans
🥄 Metal spoons & utensils
🥣 Metal mixing bowls
📏 Metal measuring cups & spoons
🚰 2 small kitchen sinks
🍴 And basically any old metal kitchen items that can withstand lots of outdoor play and little hands!

They do not have to be pretty or new—we’re going to put them to good use! 😉

Thank you for always helping us dream a little bigger for our kids. We can’t wait for you to see what we’re creating! 💚🐸

Before we officially headed to Gulf Shores for our Annual Beach vacation, we had one last requirement for our ECDC parents… DANCE OR NO DROP-OFF! 😂💃🏽🕺🏽

And y’all did NOT disappoint! 🤣 Well… some of y’all understood the assignment, and some of y’all almost had to take your kids right back home. 😂😂

Thanks for always playing along with our foolishness and sending us off with plenty of laughs and good vibes! 🌴☀️💙
