Another day, another tour. Today a group from Toledo toured the microfarming system (for the second time) to learn more about whether they might replicate it in their corner of the state. We visited the NECIC Urban Farm where carrot harvest was in full swing, Amanda Stanfield shared her story of dreaming about gardens as community oases and then building the GrowFourth Urban Farm, Vince Owens showed off his variety of crops at the NECIC Farm and his Beymiller location, Walt Bonham shared the amazing work he's doing at the NECIC farm at Richland Correctional Institute, and Jess Hudson shared the challenges and accomplishments of cooperative aggregation and farmer membership -- as well the yummy fresh vegetables available at the Friday market. The alternative food movement needs strategies that will build sustainably for its future. We got answers.

A wonderful day hosting a team from Antioch College to see all parts of the microfarm system blooming in Mansfield, Ohio. We toured the NECIC Urban Farm where Dan Neef showed off his handiwork, then over to GrowFourth Urban Farms where Amanda Stanfield is killing it, a tour through Fulfillment Farms Beymiller site where Vince Owens has so much going on, a brief visit to the IdeaWorks Entrepreneurial Kitchen where Jess Hudson showed why she's the key to success, and a final stop at the NECIC prison farm at the Richland Correctional Institute where Walt Bonham and his crew has a gorgeous farm in production. The Alternative Farm Movement is flourishing in Mansfield. So grateful for all the hard work that all of you do! You're changing the world one microfarm at a time!
