TWO CHOIR STUDENTS are headed to STATE SOLO & ENSEMBLE!
This year, both Junior and Senior High competed in a new competition in our Region called , “Solo & Ensemble” at Russellville High School on March 14th.
Students got to work with Dr. Katherine Rohwer from ATU as their judge and mentor.
We had two groups competing in the large ensemble section (Jr & Sr High). In the Junior High Large Ensemble, Isabella Childs and Cung Bawy performed solos during the Junior High performance. With our Senior High Large Ensemble, Mira Dorell served as the soloist while the Senior Large Ensemble competed.
Both choirs received a 2nd Division as their score, which is the “excellent” category of scoring. You must receive a Division 1 rating with a Superior score to advance on to state. Both choirs were one point off!
We also had two entries in the duet category, and one of our Jr High duets (Aaryn Gass and Ava Davis) received a Division 2 for their rating score, which is the “excellent” category of scoring. This was their first time to compete and they are 7th graders!! Most score this as a senior high student. I was so very proud of both the competing duets!
Last, we had THREE students receive a Division 1 with a Superior rating and two senior high students will now advance on to state in April!!! Unfortunately, Junior High are not allowed to advance further. However, ALL three that competed did so great!
Racheal Leland (10th grade)
Kyla Heck (9th grade)
Evangeline Lemmon (7th grade)
Racheal and Kyla will advance on to state to compete at the State Festival in the State Solo& Ensemble competition in Conway hosted by : Central Baptist College, Conway.
I wasn’t able to get a picture of the three all together with their medals, because Racheal and the other color guard members had to leave as soon as it was over to travel to Northwest Arkansas to the “Winter Guard” competition for the color guard. I will get one on Monday.
