Midwife or doula? Or both? It’s one of the questions we hear a lot, and since it’s National Midwifery Week, we thought it would be a good time to break it down.
A midwife is your healthcare provider. She handles the clinical side, like checking your blood pressure and monitoring you and your baby.
A doula is there for support. She helps you feel prepared, comforted, and heard, but she doesn’t perform clinical tasks or make decisions for you.
Lots of families have both on their birth team. They work really well together and can provide you with incredible support. Did you have a midwife, a doula, or both? Tell us in the comments. 👇
