We’re kicking off a new year at Anothen Outdoor Academy with Teacher training and our annual retreat!

Our teachers have gathered for a time of learning, growing, bonding, worshiping and praying together — preparing not only for a new school year, but for the lives and families God is bringing into our community.

Our hope is to serve with purpose, teach with passion, and do all things with our whole hearts, for the Lord. 🤍

Here’s to a new year of experiencing, discovering and growing!

To the dads, grandpas, and father figures who walk beside our children—thank you. Thank you for slowing down to notice wildflowers, answering endless questions, reading one more book, building confidence, and showing what steady love looks like.

The moments may feel ordinary now, but they become the memories children carry for years to come.

We are grateful for all the ways you help cultivate wonder and courage. Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Anothen. 💚💛

“Our job is not so much to educate our children as it is to provide the tools they need to educate themselves.”

We believe learning is most powerful when children are active participants in it. When kids are given meaningful experiences, opportunities to explore, and the freedom to ask questions, they begin to take ownership of their education.

Whether they’re building forts, tending the garden, observing wildlife, solving problems with friends, or discovering something new outdoors, they’re learning how to learn—and that’s a skill that will serve them for a lifetime.

The goal isn’t simply to fill minds with information. It’s to cultivate curiosity, confidence, resilience, and a love of learning that lasts far beyond childhood.

One of the comments we hear most often from visitors touring Anothen Outdoor Academy is simple:

“These kids just look so happy.”

And every time we hear it, we smile.

Because while we work hard to provide meaningful academics, hands-on experiences, and opportunities for growth, we believe learning should also be filled with joy.

These kids really are happy—and we think that’s something worth celebrating. 🌿

Last week we shared that our school garden received an exciting certification! 🌱 Our students played a huge role in helping transform it into a certified garden, and we are so proud of all their hard work and teamwork. We can’t wait to see all the learning and growth that will happen in this special space!

Today we remember and honor the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of those who gave their lives in service to our country. May we never forget the cost of freedom or the families who carry that sacrifice every day. 🇺🇸
