Our Crazy Story
Two history teachers who came up with a cool idea in OUR classroom and thought we'd share.
Gregg and Mat were tired of seeing the same old stuff being pushed to our curriculum coordinators, teachers and students... and hundreds of dollars being wasted on the same concepts. Flash cards, looping cards... blah blah blah... the old standbys dressed up in pretty graphics (and some not so pretty)... and we knew there had to be a more interactive way to communicate history vocabulary. A setting where kids can compete against each other while absorbing the content we need them to have. So, we created FRECK!
Starting out as index cards with clues written on them in pen, Mat used his graphic design background and resources to create an attractive set of cards that can be played easily in any setting. The game is simple. 4-6 players sit at a table. A person draws a card from the deck and reads the clues or single question. The first to answer correctly wins the card and adds it to their bank. And you get ONE shot at it. The most money in the bank at the end wins!
There are other twists and turns in the box that make it even more fun, but the foundation of the game is the reason why we're here. We want to expose kids to one of the most important aspects of learning history... VOCABULARY! So, take a look at FRECK! and give it a try in your classroom.
