In 1947, Gorman-Rupp introduced the Odorless Sanitary Cleaner (OSC), the first completely engineered septic tank cleaner. Built to address growing sanitation needs, the OSC was water-tight, fly-proof, fully enclosed and odorless.

Using a simple circulation process, septic tank contents were agitated and then pumped into the truck tank in minutes. A 500-gallon tank could be cleaned in just 15 minutes, while a 1,000-gallon tank required only 20.

Originally offered in three models—the 201-D Truck Unit, 202-B Truck Unit and 203-A Pump Kit—the OSC eventually found applications far beyond septic service, including dewatering, fire fighting, construction projects and industrial waste handling.

Nearly eight decades later, the story of the OSC serves as a reminder that some of the most impactful innovations begin with a simple goal: solving a real-world problem.

Gorman-Rupp employees had a fantastic time competing in this year's Richland Young Professionals Business vs. Business Dodgeball Tournament!

We were proud to field two teams in support of this great event:

Team Blue earned an impressive 3rd-place finish
Team Red battled their way to a 5th-place finish

To top it off, Gorman-Rupp was honored with the Largest Crowd Award, a testament to the incredible support our employees show for one another and our community.

The tournament helped raise funds for the Rubies Women's Group, a community non-profit organization assisting local women in need. The day was filled with teamwork, friendly competition, and giving back.

A big thank you to Richland Young Professionals for organizing another outstanding event, and congratulations to everyone who participated!
