In a Changing World, Be a World Changer

Can you tell that our world is changing? Look around. Things are not like they used to be! So the question is, are we being changed by the world, or are we going to be “world changers”?

Take a look at Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians. After receiving word from Timothy, who visited the church, apparently there were a number of questions that these young Christians were asking the apostle Paul. Under those circumstances, he was inspired to write this epistle.

In this passage, there are several changing agents available for followers of Jesus Christ to change the world. See if you can find them. And then apply them.

1. Persevering through trials! (1 Thess. 3:3) - “That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.”

God only had one Son without sin, but He never had a son without trials. Expect them. Endure them. You guessed it. Enjoy them??

If we know that all things are working for our good, then we can persevere. Go for it!

2. Protecting our hearts against the tempter! (1 Thess. 3:5) - “For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.”

Who is the tempter? Satan is the deceiver and tempter. Yet, Jesus Christ overcame the devil; therefore, because we are in Him, we can overcome temptation (1 Cor. 10:13; James 1:13–15).

Praise the Lord!

3. Passing on a lasting legacy! (1 Thess. 3:6–9) - “But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord. For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God.”

Bottom line: When those that we are pouring into, usually young converts, overcome temptation and stay loving and faithful to Jesus and His Church, that should keep us encouraged.

Who is it that you are pouring into?

4. Praying and interceding for others! (1 Thess. 3:10) - “Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?”

WOW! Day and night, what a burden. Can you relate?

Interceding for others is an unsung hero kind of ministry. But our Lord and Savior knows all about it. He did the same (John 17). Besides that, He is praying for us right now (Rom. 8:34).

Think about that for a while!

5. Pointing people to get ready for Christ’s Return! (1 Thess. 3:13) - “To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.”

People, get ready! Or should we say, get people ready?

Why? Here we are reminded again that Jesus is coming again. In fact, He said, “Behold, I come quickly!”

Be a world changer by persevering, protecting, passing, praying, and pointing. Then our Lord will be glorified.

Listening to Good or Bad Counsel

August 31, 2026

Have you ever heard of Rehoboam? He was one of Solomon’s sons. He had a choice. Would he listen to wise counsel? Who would he listen to?

There was an older and wiser crowd. But there were also younger men whose counsel he sought as well.

By the way, do you ever get conflicting counsel from well-intentioned people? Family? Friends? Church members? Job associates? Who do you listen to?

If you are not familiar with this biblical narrative, please follow it closely.

1. First of all, look at the background setting with the blessings of Solomon the King! (2 Chron. 9:22ff) - “And king Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom. And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.... And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.”

You get the picture. Imagine hanging around King Solomon. His wisdom exceeded human knowledge. No doubt, those who rubbed shoulders with him throughout his forty-year reign became wise as well.

What does that tell you? In Proverbs 13:20, we read: “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

Bottom line: Are you walking with wise men?

2. Next, watch King Rehoboam, who was faced with a decision! (2 Chron. 10:1–5) - “And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for to Shechem were all Israel come to make him king. And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of Solomon the king, heard it, that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt. And they sent and called him. So Jeroboam and all Israel came and spake to Rehoboam, saying, Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore ease thou somewhat the grievous servitude of thy father, and his heavy yoke that he put upon us, and we will serve thee. And he said unto them, Come again unto me after three days. And the people departed.”

Much is given, much is required. Rehoboam was tested. Give him some credit; at least he waited three days before he gave an answer.

Do you take time to weigh over a matter or pray over a matter? That is a good practice. Next, let’s see how Rehoboam responds to this situation.

3. Follow Rehoboam’s method of making a decision as he sought counsel! (2 Chron. 10:6–7) - “And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people? And they spake unto him, saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.”

Think about it. These older men had been influenced by the wisdom of Solomon. Therefore, Rehoboam was wise in asking them for their opinion.

Did he follow their counsel? Would you?

Honestly, many times we have made up our minds about what we want to do in a matter. Basically, we just want to hear others agree with us—no matter whether it is God’s will or not.

That is especially true if it costs us something; i.e., money, time, resources, friendships, relationships, or jobs.

Go ahead and admit it—we do.

4. Observe who Rehoboam listened to and whose counsel he followed! (2 Chron. 10:8–11) - “But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with him, that stood before him. And he said unto them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people, which have spoken to me, saying, Ease somewhat the yoke that thy father did put upon us? And the young men that were brought up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answer the people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins. For whereas my father put a heavy yoke upon you, I will put more to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”

What a mistake! Don’t listen to them, Rehoboam!!

Foolish Rehoboam stepped into a pit and paid the price. When he should have taken wise counsel from those who had been mentored by his father, King Solomon, he failed to listen to the wisest counsel!

5. Sadly, Rehoboam could have been blessed, but instead he missed out on an opportunity because of his spiritual dullness! (2 Chron. 10:12–15) - “So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king bade, saying, Come again to me on the third day. And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men, And answered them after the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.”

What a valuable lesson we can learn from others’ choices and mistakes.

How did it end with Rehoboam? Here’s how.

“And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.... So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there.... And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.” (2 Chron. 12:1, 13–14)

Obviously, it did not end well with Rehoboam. He did not use godly wisdom, nor did he seek it out. Instead, he leaned on his own understanding.

So, after reading this devotion, has our Lord revealed any “bad decisions,” or have you been influenced by some unwise counsel?

Freedom to Forgive

August 28, 2026

Have you ever been MAD? So MAD that you could not get past the offense or problem? Are you angry right now at someone? Has it turned into bitterness? What can we do?

Actually, we must CHOOSE to “LET GO” of the hurts and offenses, or else they will become like a noose around our neck!

Please do not wait on a FEELING! Be on guard against letting your emotions CONTROL you! As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, we have the option of submitting to and obeying the Holy Spirit rather than taking orders from the FLESH.

Several passages of Scripture give us a cure for this terrible disease.

1. If Jesus, God the Son, FORGAVE, then that means He will enable us to FORGIVE! (Luke 23:33–34) - “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”

“Father, forgive them...”

While being ridiculed and ultimately crucified for a crime He did not commit (blasphemy and insurrection), Jesus “LET GO of the BITTERNESS”!

Why? How could He do that? His justice would be satisfied in His sacrificial death. His obedience, even unto death, would be magnified (Phil. 2:8–9). His purpose would be fulfilled in laying down His life.

“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” (John 10:17–18)

Little did they know—the Roman soldiers who crucified Him—that Jesus was dying for their sins, as well as for the religious Jews. But make no mistake about it, if they or others today do not turn from sin and turn to Jesus for FORGIVENESS, then the wrath of God will be on them.

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:17–19)

FORGIVE them.

2. If God the Father FORGIVES us, then that means He will enable us to FORGIVE! (Eph. 4:31–32) - “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:1–2)

The BLOOD of Jesus met the holy demands of a JUST God—the Father. Consequently, He was satisfied.

3. If God the Holy Spirit lives within us, then that means He enables us to FORGIVE! (Col. 3:13) - “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” (Col. 2:13–14)

By choosing to cooperate with God the Holy Spirit, we can release the offense and move on with our relationship with Him.

The basis of FORGIVENESS has been discussed in this devotion. If God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit will FORGIVE, then we can FORGIVE!

Then and only then will we experience “FREEDOM from being FORGIVEN, and with that FREEDOM, FORGIVE others”!

Do you remember your BC days? That is, Before Christ. What about your AC days? This would be After Christ. If you were writing to other Christians, what would you say? How would you describe the BIG DIFFERENCES?

There may be some of you who read this devotion whose testimony may not be as radical and dramatic as the apostle Paul’s testimony. Hey, but do not forget your NB days—New Birth days. Nevertheless, when Jesus Christ comes into your life, there is a change.

Writing to the churches of Galatia, Paul enumerates this transformation that he experienced.

1. Paul’s BC Days! (Galatians 1:13) - “For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it.”

Check out the word “conversation.” It means way of life. In other words, Paul is saying that he attempted to “waste” or destroy the Church. What a losing battle he soon discovered!

2. Paul’s NB Days! (Galatians 1:15) - “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace.”

NB stands for New Birth. Remember Jeremiah the prophet: “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Praise the Lord for His calling and giftings! He is the One Who calls. He chooses who He uses!

Question: Do you feel unworthy? Certainly, most do. But after all, it is not about us. It is about HIM! And the Church said? Amen.

3. Paul’s AC Days! (Galatians 1:16–24) - “To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days... And they glorified God in me.”

Do you want to know what God’s will is for you? Reread verse sixteen. “To reveal his Son in me,” said Paul. But that is what He desires for all of His people.

How is it going? Let the light shine through. Open the windows of your heart. Speak the truth of His love and grace. Point people to Jesus. Lift Him up!

You have a story to tell. So go tell it! Paul’s story is somewhat different than most.

Time to Get Up

Can you tell time? Well, what time is it? For sure, it is a late hour! Darkness seems to be settling on our world. Nevertheless, what should we as followers of Jesus Christ do?

Whether you agree or not on the time, if you are a Christian, hopefully this devotion will be a practical help and a source of blessing. So without further delay, let’s dive into the text.

1. It’s Time to WAKE UP in a Sleepy World! (Romans 13:11) - “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

Don’t roll over and hit the snooze button! Instead, WAKE UP, GET UP, SHAPE UP, LOOK UP, because one day we are going to be CAUGHT UP!

2. It’s Time to LIGHT UP a Dark World! (Romans 13:12) - “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”

Have we gotten used to the dark? Imagine years ago what was detested is now accepted today. How did we slip that far? Easy—compromise.

How can we regain the lost ground? Good news: A bright light will dispel the darkness. Go light up your world! Shine your light!

3. It’s Time to SPEAK UP in a Lying World! (Romans 13:13) - “Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.”

Being known as a man or woman of integrity is a compliment this day and time. When falsifying is accepted and approved in the world, that is all the more reason God-fearing people need to be truthful. After all, Jesus is the “truth” (John 14:6).

Does it bother you when you are tempted to lie? Remember. God is light. There is no darkness in Him. So walk in the light. He will guide your path. Speaking truth is speaking godly. Yet, please take note: when you fail, go to the cross. Be restored!

4. It’s Time to PUT ON in a World That’s TAKING OFF! (Romans 13:14) - “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”

Be honest. We live in a sex-saturated society where lust reigns. So, in order to live the Spirit-filled life in a flesh-driven world, we must stay clothed with Jesus Christ and His armor.

By the way, keep your armor on at all times.

Did you notice how our Lord, through the pen of Paul, gives us clear insights as to how to navigate in this wicked world?

Turn to Jesus. Go straight to His will. Follow His path until you reach your final destination. And then rest in Him throughout eternity.

Yet to Come — BEMA

Since a Christian has been forgiven of the penalty of sin, along with a guarantee of eternal life with a home in heaven, does it really matter how he or she lives?

It does really matter how we live after we are redeemed. But why? And really, how? That is, how shall we live? Those questions deserve a look at the Book.

Writing to believers in Corinth, as well as today, Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, discussed this most important question that demands an answer.

1. What Is the Judgment Seat of Christ? (2 Cor. 5:10) - “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

The Judgment Seat of Christ, otherwise known as the BEMA, is only for Christians. At it, we will stand before Him—one at a time—and give an account for how we have served Him, including our motives for doing so.

Is that a sobering thought or what? Have you thought about the Judgment Seat lately?

Obviously, this is not a call for a frenzy of activity of the flesh, which profits nothing. Rather, it is a call for holiness and usefulness.

So stay focused. Be intentional. Prioritize your life. Plan futuristically. When it happens, you will be glad!

2. When Is the Judgment Seat of Christ? (1 Cor. 4:5) - “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.”

Evidently, according to this passage along with others, this appearance before JESUS will take place after He comes in the RAPTURE.

That means it must not be too far away. Look around. Can you tell?

3. How Should We Prepare for the Judgment Seat of Christ? (1 Cor. 3:11–15) - “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

This makes me wonder about my life in the light of His splendor and glory. Remember. He is truth! (John 14:6).

Suffice to say, it is time for a checkup!! A checkup is in line before we are caught up!!!

Get your FIRE SUIT on! We are going through the FIRE. That which remains through the fiery eyes of Jesus Christ will be rewarded. The rest turned to ASHES!

AI Takeover or Makeover?

August 24, 2026

Is AI taking over? Well, not completely yet, but it’s slowly infiltrating our society. Some good. Some not so good.

Does it seem to you that we are going to “wake up” and get the “shock of our life” with all the technological changes? Mostly, the older generation has had to adapt to decades of new innovations and discoveries.

So, what does this mean to you and me “practically” as a Christian? What should we do? How should we focus?

Practically speaking, Paul wrote: “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life.” (2 Cor. 2:14–16)

Whereas our generation has been able to “go with the flow” as technology has taken over, its advancements have been somewhat unstoppable.

However, the purpose of this devotion is to be a “FRIENDLY REMINDER” that the CHURCH, comprised of faithful followers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is the Captain of our Salvation, has always been made up of WORLD-CHANGERS! That is no matter what!!

Simply put, instead of the world changing our focus, family, and freedom, we have been empowered by God Himself {Holy Spirit} and have become catalysts to CHANGE our culture!

In other words, while our culture is ever moving toward new inventions which are intended to make life more pleasurable, only the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST is able to meet man’s greatest need; i.e., the releasing of the debt we owed to God because of our iniquity and transgressions.

First, we are changed and transformed, and next, we become agents of this transforming life. Then we are to offer this “Gift of Eternal Life,” which includes its purpose for living and dying.

Therefore, those of us who have experienced His life-changing power are called to be duplicators as we influence others to find and follow His purpose and plan for their lives. That is the message of the Bible from cover to cover.

Now then, is AI TAKING OVER, or is the LORD JESUS CHRIST going to TAKE OVER?

You tell me.

JESUS is going to TAKE OVER! So praise Him for being a part of His BIG PLAN!

All In

Are you “All In” with the Lord? You can be. Why shouldn’t we be “ALL IN”? In this great passage of Scripture, a total of 40 verses, this phrase “IN” is mentioned approximately 14 or 15 times. Have you ever noticed that? In other words, our Lord is saying, in essence, “COME on IN”!

By the way, He knows best.

Will you GO IN?

1. First, “TRUST IN” the LORD! (Psalm 37:3) - “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”

Interestingly, the word for “trust” is בָּטַח, which can mean to be bold or confident, secure, to hope, or to rely.

Obviously, to “trust” in the Lord covers a lot of ground. Basically, it speaks of being fully dependent and reliant upon Him, no matter what.

Will you trust Him now?

2. Second, “DELIGHT IN” the LORD! (Psalm 37:4) - “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

Beware of counterfeit delights such as materialism and self. Yet, the believer in Jesus Christ is captivated by the God of creation, including their salvation.

Take a moment to “delight” in the Lord. When you stop and think about the thrill and excitement of watching His Holy Spirit accomplish His will by changing and transforming our hearts, it is indeed a DELIGHT!

3. Third, “REST IN” the LORD! (Psalm 37:7) - “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him.”

What does it mean to “REST”? The word is דָּמַם, pronounced dah-MAHM. It literally means to cease, forbear, or hold peace.

How about this? It means to quiet self. Or it can mean to be silent or to stand still. Lastly, it can have to do with tarrying or waiting.

But truthfully, sometimes waiting can be hard to do. Right? Perhaps that is why our Lord invites His people “ALL IN”!

Think about it. If we are TRUSTING IN the LORD, then we will DELIGHT IN Him. And by DELIGHTING in Him, we will find REST in Him.

Are you TRUSTING in JESUS? By the way, we mean TRUSTING in His provisions, His promises, His power, His peace, and His pardon.

Will you DELIGHT in Him? DELIGHT in His goodness, His grace, His glory.

Why & What?

August 20, 2026

Do you know why Jesus had to die? Next, what should be the result? In other words, how has His death, burial, and resurrection affected your life? Is it just “head knowledge”? Or is it knowledge that turns into a life-changing experience? Check out these verses.

1. Why Did Jesus Have to Die? (Gal. 1:1, 4) - “Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead.... Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins...”

Keep in mind that Jesus predicted that He would die but also that He would rise from the dead. Do you know anyone else who has done that? And it came true. But isn’t that the “good news of the gospel”?

Be honest. When was the last time you thought about how sinful you have been in your lifetime—the guilt, the shame, the condemnation? Actually, like most, you do not want to remember. Right?

While admittedly, it is not good to dwell on your past, at times, it can be a “friendly reminder” of God’s marvelous grace, great love, and abundant mercy! What about it? That will keep you humble and thankful!

2. What Should Be the Result of Jesus Dying for Our Sins? (Gal. 1:4) - “Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.”

Do you see? What should be the result?

“...that he might deliver us from this present evil world.”

Bottom line: Jesus does not just save us to take us to heaven. Instead, He brings a little heaven to our soul. What makes His work of saving grace so wonderful is that He “SETS us FREE” from the evil influence of the world.

But how, you ask? By living His life “in us” and “through us” by His Holy Spirit. Yes, we are in the world but not of the world, because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!

So now that we have discussed why Jesus died and how that should affect those who put their faith and trust in Him, what is your response?

Hopefully, it is the following. See if it is. “To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (Gal. 1:5)

Glorify Him! Praise His name!!
